We are so grateful for this shout out!

Starting September 18th in Greensboro, North Carolina…the Guilford Native American Association Pow Wow gets underway bringing hundreds of Native American dancers, powerful drum groups, colorful regalia, traditional food, arts, crafts, and three days of culture to Greensboro Country Park. The 49th annual event runs through September 20, with dance and drum competitions featuring everyone from young children to Golden Age dancers. One of the biggest sights is the Grand Entry, when dancers enter the arena together as drums fill the park, scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at noon and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Away from the dance arena, more than 20 arts and crafts vendors and at least five food vendors are expected, giving you plenty of time to browse Native-made goods and grab something to eat between competitions. Saturday also brings a 5 p.m. concert by Lumbee singer-songwriter Alexis Raeana. Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. Sunday at 3802 Jaycee Park Drive. Admission ranges from free for children six and younger to $10 for adults ages 13–60. GNAA, founded in 1975, is North Carolina’s oldest urban American Indian association.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Julus Locklear. Mr. Julus was a founding member of the Guilford Native American Association and represented our community both locally and state-wide. He served on the GNAA Board of Directors, the NC Commission of Indian Affairs and in numerous leadership roles. His will and determination led to so many positive outcomes for the Native people of the Triad. A passionate advocate, Mr. Julus was known for his ability to give sound advice and counsel when needed. He will be missed dearly by those of us who were blessed to have worked alongside him.

Rest well, Mr. Julus. Your legacy lives on in the work of the Guilford Native American Association. 🪶🙏🏼

On Saturday, we held our Community Voices Exhibit Opening & Talking Circle at the Greensboro History Museum! Our panel of GNAA Community Experts helped tell the story of the last 50 years to the guests that joined us. We concluded with a word from Miss NCNAYO 2026-2027, Aiyana Suarez, as she addressed Hope for the Seventh Generation and joined our youth in an honor song sung by Jaycoa Silva.

State and local policymakers from all sides of the aisle in North Carolina are invited to a friendly mixer and panel conversation with urban Indian organizations from North Carolina to learn about advocating for Native communities in the state budget and engage with local Native peoples.

GNAA Community! We are happy to announce this event & collaboration with the Greensboro History Museum. On Saturday, August 15, we are having our Community Day! This includes our Community Voices exhibit opening at the Greensboro History Museum and our Panel/Talking Circle titled: Stories, Struggles, and Success where we will hear from GNAA Community Members as they tell the story of their lives in Greensboro and the founding of our Association.

We encourage all Community Members to come see us and engage with our open panel and Q&A. Thank you to our friends at the Greensboro History Museum for helping us share our story!
