One of the biggest projects we do every year is have wreathes laid at several cemeteries across Europe. Our friends in France, the Netherlands, and Belgium help coordinate, place, and photograph these on Memorial Day.

Would you like to help? Your donation, earmarked for our Memorial Fund, would help to make these wreaths and associated costs can be paid year after year.

Please email us at [email protected] or message us here for details.

Sorry for being a little late on this

VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) came and went for the 30th on May 8, 1945. By this time their combat had largely ended after taking Magdeburg and the surrounding areas. Now they were preparing for occupation duty, rotation back to the U.S., and possible deployment to the Pacific.

Thank you to all our WW2 veterans for the sacrifices made to liberate Europe and the rest of the world.

Attention in the TOC!! The 80th Annual Reunion of the 30th Infantry Division Association is coming up!

Mark your calendars for 13 to 16 August, 2026! This year we will assemble at the Hyatt Place Greensboro Downtown.

As usual, Thursday will be a no-host social. Friday we’re scouting out some local sites for some new experiences and of course we’ll have BBQ, and Saturday will be our banquet and auction.

If you have a company, local business, or know anyone that would like to donate to our auction, we would love to beat last year’s record. We couldn’t have done it without the gracious donations and hard work by our members.

Stay tuned for the hotel information and reunion schedule/registration form! Be watching your mail and email.

As always, invite a friend, call a brother in arms, bring your friends and family. We can’t grow the organization without you and them.

See you there!

We would like to thank all the teams, players, and sponsors for supporting our 3rd annual scholarship golf tournament. Without you we wouldn’t be able to give these scholarships to Old Hickory veterans and families.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers for their support, starting early and ending late, jumping into work without question, and taking the time out of your busy schedules to support our efforts!

We look forward to giving a couple scholarships away this year because of all of you!

We would like to remember Major General (retired) Gerald A. “Rudy” Rudisill Jr, who passed away on April 2nd.

He served in Vietnam from August 1967 to July 1968 as a platoon leader in the 11th and 19th Armored Cavalry Regiments. He came to the 30th in March 1970 and spent several years in the 196th Cavalry in Elizabethtown, commanding both A and E Troops from July of 1971 to November 1976.

In August 1981 he became the Executive Officer (XO) of 2nd Battalion, 120th Infantry (Mountain Rifles) in Hickory, North Carolina and in July 1984 became the Battalion Commander

In February 1988, he became the Deputy Brigade Commander of the 30th and took over as Brigade Commander in January 1992.

His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with Valor device, the Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He served from commissioning in August of 1966 to his final posting as Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard Matters until retiring in 2003. He served for several more years in the NC Department of Public Safety.

Let us remember the life and service of Maj. Gen. (Retired) Gerald "Rudy" Rudisill, Jr.

Gen. Rudisill was a beloved leader, mentor, and friend. His career was marked by a deep commitment to the men and women of the North Carolina National Guard. As The Adjutant General from April 1993 to July 2001, his leadership was pivotal across all formations. He was a champion of the State Partnership Program, building a strong and enduring friendship between North Carolina and Moldova.

On behalf of the NCNG, we offer our deepest sympathies to the Rudisill family.
