It’s graduation day for the Consortium’s Executive Leadership Academy and ELA 2026 has shown up!

This group of 10 local nonprofit leaders have worked together for 6 months to learn from (and with) Center for Creative Leadership faculty to explore their leadership styles, learn new skills, and build resilience strategies.

Today, we are learning from Abigail Dunne-Moses, one of the wisest people around. More photos to come.

Engaging Board & Volunteers in Fundraising (without the Awkwardness)

Many organizations struggle to involve board members and volunteers in fundraising in a way that feels comfortable and effective. This session will explore practical approaches to training, equipping, and supporting boards and volunteers - using case studies of organizations that have seen increased engagement and confidence.

As always, bring your triumphs, struggles and lessons learned for this learning conversation.

A National Town Hall offered by Nonprofit GPS is a national initiative of Nonprofit Financial Commons, BDO Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory Services, and other field leaders

Many nonprofits have been rocked this past year by disruptions to some of their major revenue streams, and this can threaten to force decisions about the shape and scope of each organization. While there are many potential strategies available, some will be far more effective for certain organizations than others.

- Should you try to replace the revenue you have lost? If so, from where?
- Should you try to cut costs and wait out what may be a temporary revenue dip?
- Should you consider an earned-revenue initiative?
- Should you suspend a program or transfer it to another organization?
- Is now the right time to try an expansion or an entirely different organizational design?

Each of these paths may be appropriate for some nonprofits and ill-advised for others. Every organization is unique in its context, mission, and business model, and understanding those differences is essential to choosing an effective strategy.

In this session, we will introduce a business-model-centered framework for navigating change, designed to help leaders sift through the array of possible responses to new challenges. Informed by insights from seasoned leaders and grounded in deep research on nonprofit business models, this tool focuses decision-makers on the starting point of their own organizational strengths and structure as they examine potential actions informed by the current context, available resources, and the impact of policy changes.

In this session, we will explore:

- Why different types of nonprofits may need to prioritize different strategies
- Key variables to assess before committing to a strategic direction
- A practical decision-making framework to use with boards and other stakeholders
