Democracy United is a coalition of concerned citizens and local leaders in regional social justice organizations coming together to support and amplify each others’ work in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. Our primary goal this election season is to combat misinformation with facts, assist in any way we can to help ensure efficiency in messaging, expand reach, and eliminate redundancy in the various roles, resources, and approaches we all take to preserve and improve our democracy.

Greensboro—Come listen to Dr. Rania Masri, the Director of Organizing and Policy, with NC Environmental Justice Network speak on the dangers of large data centers and what we can do to stop them from harming our communities. This is a bipartisan event—elected officials from both parties are invited to attend. The issues:

Higher electric bills
Air pollution
Water pollution
Noise pollution
Extreme water consumption (1 - 5 million gallons a day)

Duke Energy will need to build more infrastructure to support these proposed data centers, causing our electric bills to rise.
