This week, we’re celebrating Arts in Education Week alongside communities across the country and right here in North Carolina. We’re celebrating the educators, artists, arts organizations, and community partners creating space for young people to learn and grow through creativity.
Because investing in the arts is also an investment in the people and communities of tomorrow. 🎨
Governor Josh Stein has proclaimed this week as Arts in Education Week in North Carolina, recognizing the role the arts can play in academic achievement, creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, civic participation, and workforce readiness.
For young people, the arts create opportunities to explore, create, communicate, and discover what they’re capable of.
What happens when artists enter the classroom?
The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Pilot Program brings artists directly into third-grade classrooms at Title I schools across Guilford County. Created in partnership with Guilford County Schools, the program gives students opportunities to learn through hands-on creative experiences while connecting classroom learning with the arts.
Because sometimes learning looks like a paintbrush, a dance step, a song, or a story.
Arts organizations are creating opportunities for young people to make, move, perform, explore, and find their voice.
