Some connections to a cause begin long before we realize it.

For Betty Jo Wall Forrest, support for CHS started with a family legacy. After assuming management of an endowed fund established by her mother-in-law, a longtime CHS supporter, she became more familiar with our work and the impact it has on children and families across North Carolina.

As a former registered nurse in community health, Betty Jo has long understood the importance of safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children. That understanding inspired her to make CHS a regular part of her own giving and legacy planning.

Lena, 16, is funny, honest, and full of personality. She loves music, shopping, spending time with friends, and learning about history. After high school, she hopes to attend college and become a social worker so she can help others, just like her social worker helped her. 🤍

Kah'Mari, 11, is imaginative, sweet, and thoughtful. He loves drawing, reading comic books, listening to music, and playing Roblox. Art is his favorite subject in school, and he hopes to one day become an animator and create his own animated movies.
