The Box Turtle Connection

The Box Turtle Connection Thank you for your interest in box turtle research in North Carolina. The Box Turtle Connection, is an initiative of The Box Turtle Collaborative.

This group is intended to provide information to the public about the project and to enlist the help of citizens in providing information to scientists about box turtles in the Carolinas. There are two ways interested citizens can help with this project:

1) Tell a scientist! Add data to the Carolina Herp Atlas! When you see a turtle, note its location and enter a report on the atlas. If you wish

to upload a photo, consider taking a picture of the top shell and the bottom shell. Refer to the .pdf The Box Turtle Connection for information on how to tell male from female and other information. This option allows you to assist scientists, but does not require a long term commitment or any commitment at all for that matter! Simply register and enter the data.

2)Become a Project Leader! This requires a long term commitment, equipment, face-to-face training in March or April by the Box Turtle Collaborative, and a willingness to meet the deadlines for data entry.
