Jason Cockrell was an unsung hero in the establishment of Sambo in this part of the country. In a lot of ways, he helped me to actually FIND it. As Coach Leo has told me many times, sambo _is_ competition. Without it, we don't have a sport. Jason worked behind the scenes to help us build this organization that has now been hosting events for 10 years. I would even go so far to say that his event Carolina Clash _inspired_ what is now South Eastern Sambo Association. He was humble, honest, and genuine. I would argue one of the best and most genuine amongst us. The gods take their favorites early. Valhalla now has a Sambo coach. May he rest in power. He forever has my respect.
