🐾 Another happy chapter for Pets Love Vets! 🐾

The Rotary Club’s Pets Love Vets project is thrilled to announce TWO new adoptions from the Oconee County Animal Shelter! Please help us celebrate the adoption of Wallen and Cruz. These deserving dogs have found loving homes and new beginnings thanks to the incredible partnership between our community, local Veterans, and the shelter staff who work tirelessly every day. Every adoption changes two lives — the pet’s and the adopter’s. We’re proud to continue supporting connections that bring companionship, healing, and joy.

We’re excited to celebrate the recent adoptions of Rocky and Sam from the Oconee County Animal Shelter! These deserving pets have officially found their forever homes, and we couldn’t be happier for them and their new families.

With these two adoptions, the Pets Love Vets Rotary Program has now helped place 222 pets into loving homes!

Join us for Second Harvest’s monthly food distribution on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 8:00–9:00 a.m. (or while supplies last) at First Methodist Church Greensboro – Lake Oconee, 202 W. Broad St. in downtown Greensboro.

Free groceries will be available for individuals and families in need, and the Lake Oconee Humane Society will be onsite with pet food and supplies to support your furry family members.

All are welcome—and volunteers are always appreciated! Come lend a hand and help make a difference in our community.

On the shores of Lake Oconee, the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has launched a hands-on environmental initiative installing duck and bat boxes to support local wildlife and strengthen habitats. Built by students from the Greene County College and Career Academy and installed in partnership with Georgia Power Land Management, the project helps offset habitat loss, supports bird and bat populations, and promotes natural pest control. Beyond its environmental impact, the effort gave students real-world experience in construction and conservation—highlighting the power of community collaboration to protect one of Georgia’s most valued natural spaces.
