Anchor Hope

Anchor Hope The mission of Anchor Hope is to provide children in foster care a safe harbor and supportive services in a nurturing environment.

The Community Resource Center (CRC) was created out of the need for a place where children can stay with a social worker while they are waiting to be placed with a foster family. The CRC provides a clean and safe space for social workers from approved agencies to take children who are in their care. These children are either entering the foster care system for the first time or are returning to th

e foster care system. Previously the children stayed in their social worker's office for hours to days while awaiting placement with a foster family. The CRC is used for sibling and family visits. The CRC has child-friendly meals, games, toys, books, and a playground. One of the reasons Anchor Hope is providing the CRC is to reduce the trauma children experience when being placed into foster care.

May is National Foster Care Month.

Throughout the month we will share some statistics from the state of NC to try and raise awareness for the need for more foster families.

Please consider fostering or helping a foster family you know!

As of early 2025, over 10,000 to 11,000 children are in North Carolina's foster care system, facing a critical shortage of homes. Licensed foster homes have dropped by over 17% since 2021, creating a severe shortage where only about half of necessary homes are available, leading to rising reliance on temporary placements and, in some cases, children staying in county office buildings.
