Great news Atlanta! We had some dancers reach out to ask if there will be auditions in your city. After consideration, we have decided to host auditions in Atlanta on Saturday, June 6, 10 am - 12 pm!

The Hair Journey Ballet, is the story of young Zuri, who visits mystical lands to find how to love her hair. The performance is on October 3 at Clayton Performing Arts Center. This performance is in partnership with and Directed by

Special thanks to for being our gracious host at AREA located at 2303-B Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA.

More about auditions: We are looking for dedicated performers with experience in Jazz, Contemporary, and Ballet as well as other dance styles rooted in African American culture such as Tap, Majorette, African-inspired, etc.

Lead Roles:

Young Zuri (age 8 - 10 years): Small stipend. Must have previous dance training and performance experience.

Older Zuri (age 14 - 17 years): Small stipend. Must have previous dance training and performance experience

Zuri's Mom (age 18 and up): Paid opportunity. Must have previous dance training and performance experience.

Weave Queen Understudy (18 and up): Paid opportunity. Must be well-versed in Classical Jazz

Nywele Understudy (18 and up): Paid opportunity. Must be well-versed in Ballet and Contemporary.

Ensemble Roles (8 and up) include The Beads, The Clouds, Weave Kingdom, and The Land of Locs and Fros Inhabitants: Select ensemble cast members will be offered paid contracts and/or stipends based on dance background, experience, and ensemble role. Must have dance training and performance experience in Contemporary, Jazz, or Ballet. African, Hip Hop, Pointe, and Tap dance are a plus!
Stipends range $50 - 250 (paid at end of project). Hourly rate ranges $12 - 22/hour (paid monthly)

Rehearsal dates to be determined based on cast availability. Atlanta dancers will need access to internet and rehearsal space for online rehearsals. There will be limited in-person rehearsals TBD.

Tech week: September 21 - 25 (Atlanta may need to travel to Greensboro for these dates.)

Dress Rehearsal: October 2

Show date: October 3

🎉 SOLD OUT! Tomorrow We Celebrate You, Royal Family! 💜

Tomorrow is the Royal Trail Ride, and we are officially SOLD OUT!

This year’s Trail Ride has transformed into a Customer Appreciation Day, and we could not be more excited to celebrate the incredible families who make Royal Expressions what it is.
A huge thank you goes to DreamSpace, I Color for A Cause, Empress Crownz, and to all of our generous donors who made it possible for us to feed and bless the families we serve with a day of joy, dancing, connection, and community.

We also want to recognize the Reich Family Foundation and the McAlister Foundation for helping us launch the Royal Bridge Fund, which directly supports tuition for dancers living in Hampton Homes, Warnersville, and the 27406 area.

Because of your continued support, we’ve been able to:

🏫 Launch our after-school program
💃 Expand access to dance and wellness programs for more families than ever

This is only the beginning of something powerful for the Southside of Greensboro, and tomorrow is a beautiful celebration of that growth.
