About FLL:
In 1998, FIRST ® teamed up with the LEGO Group to form the FIRST ® LEGO ® League (FLL). Doing so, they created a program for children ages 9-14 with the goal of, “transforming our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.”
Every September, FLL® releases a Challenge, which is based on
a real-world scientific topic. Each Challenge has two parts: the Robot Game and the Project. Teams of up to ten children, with one adult coach, participate in the Challenge by programming an autonomous robot to score points on a themed playing field (Robot Game) and developing a solution to a problem they have identified (Project). Teams may then choose to attend an official tournament, hosted by an Operational Partner, or organize/attend an unofficial local event to celebrate their accomplishments. A&T:
From our roots as an 1890 land-grant university, we have expanded and adapted to become a school fit for the 21st century and beyond.
