Friday Reflection 🌙 | Surah Ash-Shu‘ara 26:77

Sometimes, what we think we can rely on may actually be taking us away from Allah. Ibrahim عليه السلام reminds us to place our hearts where they truly belong:

فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

“Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds.”

Africa does not lack water, what it lacks is the infastructure to make it accessible to the people.
The recent world bank blog entry stated that, ‘’Africa has seen its population grow from 800 million to 1.3 billion over the past two decades,but the availability of clean, safe water across the continent hasn’t kept pace. More than 400 million people in the region still lack access to safe drinking water, and more than 700 million have no access to basic sanitation.
These are not just numbers, these are real people, real families with real human needs to live.

But where there is a problem, there is always opportunity, because this has brought many people and organisations to accelerate their efforts
in rising up to the challenge. Having been actors in this sector for close tro eight years, IUR has come to understand, that Africa is rich with water but what it lacks infrastructure, enough institutions and adecuate financing to get make the water acceccible to the people.

There is a deep verse in the Qur’an in which Allah says ‘’وجعلنا من الماء كل شيئ حي... And from water We have made everything live...’’21:30.
This statement speaks to the fact that, when people lack water, many life threatning issues follow. Such issues include; food shortages, health complications, security threats and even deaths. These have, indeed, been the case as reports indicate many such issues across many parts of the world and in Africa.

IUR has been a big advocate for clean water for every person, and we call on people of goodwill to support our clean water projects as we build water wells for needed communities and people in Africa.
