A little generosity goes a long way!

In the midst of busy days, community outreach, and responding to the ever-changing housing needs of our neighbors, one thing remains constant: we are never too busy to recognize the generosity of those who make our work possible.

A heartfelt thank you to Guilford College United Methodist Church for generously providing green cleaning kits for every resident who attended our recent Healthy Homes workshop at Partnership Village! 🏡

Because of their kindness, residents walked away with more than helpful information...they had the tools to put what they learned into practice.

Partnerships like these allow us to stretch our resources, reach more neighbors, and continue working toward safer, healthier homes throughout Greensboro.

The impact of generosity doesn't stop with one gift. It continues through every household it touches. 💚

Cozy Homes Are Healthy Homes!

As temperatures begin to drop in Greensboro (slowly, but surely), it's time to bring out the blankets, turn on the heat, and prepare our homes for cooler weather! 🍁

But before you turn up the thermostat, let's talk about keeping your home safe this season.

🔥 Give space heaters some space! Keep them at least 3 feet away from furniture, curtains, and anything flammable.

🔌 Plug heaters directly into wall outlets. Avoid extension cords and power strips.

💨 Check your carbon monoxide detectors! Heating systems and fuel-burning appliances can produce this invisible, odorless gas.

🏠 Keep vents clear! Make sure furniture and other belongings aren't blocking airflow.

🚫 Never use your oven or stove to heat your home.

🏠 MYTH vs. FACT: Housing Edition

❌ MYTH: “You only call Greensboro Housing Coalition when you’re already homeless.”

✅ FACT: You don’t have to wait until you’ve lost your housing to ask for help.

In fact, the earlier you reach out, the more options we may be able to explore with you.

GHC works with individuals and families facing housing challenges at many different stages. Whether you’re struggling to keep up with housing costs, dealing with landlord or housing-condition concerns, worried about displacement, or simply unsure where to turn.

Housing stability starts with having the right information and support before a challenge becomes a crisis. 💚

📞 If something about your housing situation doesn’t feel stable, reach out. You don’t have to wait until it becomes an emergency.

One notice. A few hours.

And entire lives packed into large U-Hauls.

This week, families at a local Studio 6 were forced out overnight—leaving behind not just a place to stay, but a community they built together.

Kids grew up there. Families shared meals. It was home.

GHC showed up immediately—but the truth is, this will happen again. And we need to be ready.
