Every Campus A Refuge Mobilizing colleges and universities to host refugees and support them in their resettlement. Other colleges and universities have joined the movement.

Millions of refugees are escaping violence in search of a safe haven. Inspired by the Pope's call on every parish to host one refugee family, Guilford College founded Every Campus A Refuge movement, an initiative which calls on every college and university campus around the world to host one refugee family on their campus grounds and to assist them in resettlement. Last week, the National Young Adult Leadership Council convened in Washington, DC. 36 Council Members put into practice the skills they learned and developed over the year, including celebrating their community project to peers and program partners. Collectively, they reached hundreds of newcomer community members in 20 states with initiatives focused on accessing education, building community, learning English, and becoming self-sufficient. Thank you to all the NRLLEC partners (RCUSA, Every Campus a Refuge, USAHello, and CWS), to the mentors, and deepest thanks to the NRLLEC program staff for all the work they put into the program and convening.

“It’s the connections that stay with you.”

For Tulsi Patel, the Every Campus A Refuge Gathering was an opportunity to build relationships, gain new perspectives, and find renewed energy for the work of welcome.
