GSO Kwanzaa Collective Bringing family & community together
Please donate @ https://indigoscac.org/ This idea is what gave birth to the GSOKWANZAACOLLECTIVE.

The Greensboro Kwanzaa Collective is comprised of a group of families and community members who noticed a void in programming for Kwanzaa in our local area. Each year, we looked for opportunities to celebrate and observe Kwanzaa in Greensboro, but we noticed there were few, if any that were located in our own community. While we take nothing from our sister cities and will do join forces with th

em to help make the observance of Kwanzaa a state-wide initiative, we felt that families in Greensboro would be well served to have events that are taking place in our own back yard in case we didn’t want to travel during the holiday season. We hope you will join us and attend some of the exciting events we have planned for this, our inaugural year. If you have ideas, talents, recipes, crafts and or reflections you wish to share with our community, feel free to post them to this site and we will display them for the community. Oh, and visit us often, as we will be adding to this site regularly. After all, Kwanzaa is a state of mind…so let’s celebrate 365!

Habari Gani? KUUMBA!!!!!
Today is the sixth day of Kwanzaa, and on this day, we reflect on the principle of Kuumba, which means Creativity - To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

When we utter the word Kuumba, we are calling forth our life force energy and reminding ourselves of our shared obligation to do all we can to constantly repair, renew and remake the world by making it more beautiful and beneficial than when we inherited it. Just think about it: Imagine waking into a room that is bleak and bland and using your creative gifts and talents to brighten it up. Then, any others who enter get to enjoy the lively room you poured into as they bring their gifts as well, so the room constantly gets now beautiful, more lovely, instead of being depleted from our presence! What a perfect concept!

Ask yourself: what special gifts and talents do I have that make me unique? How do/can I bless other people, spaces, and places with my gifts? How can I ensure that my community and this planet are better off as a result of my presence?
