United Way of Greater Greensboro

United Way of Greater Greensboro We bring Greensboro together to end poverty—one action, one partnership, one life at a time. Be part of the impact. Our focus: End poverty now.

We unite people and organizations to improve lives and move Greensboro forward. We believe people are more than their circumstances. Poverty is a cycle our community can break — together. That’s why we stand with families and ignite the caring power of Greensboro to help households build lasting stability and pride. Our work begins with listening and learning, leads to strategic action powered by

partnerships, and grows through relentless collaboration with changemakers across our region. We:
• Show up like good neighbors
• Lead the way locally
• Align partners and resources
• Share knowledge and drive change

No one can end poverty alone. But aligned, it’s possible.

Meet Your 2026-27 Board of Directors for United Way of Greater Greensboro!

Last Wednesday at our Annual Meeting, we celebrated the leaders whose service has helped strengthen this work—and welcomed a new group of changemakers stepping into that impact.

Our 2026–27 Board of Directors brings together voices from across our community, united by a shared commitment to creating pathways out of poverty and building a stronger, more connected Greensboro.

Rooted here. Rising together.

Last night wasn’t just a celebration. It was a reminder of what happens when a community comes together with purpose.

We gathered to recognize the leaders, partners, advocates, volunteers, and changemakers helping move Greensboro forward — and to celebrate the momentum being built across our community every single day.

The stories shared, the partnerships recognized, and the people honored throughout the evening reflected something we believe deeply at United Way of Greater Greensboro:
Ending poverty takes all of us.

Thank you to everyone who continues to listen, lead, collaborate, invest, and show up for this community.

Because when Greensboro rises together, real change becomes possible.

Greensboro keeps growing, but its roots still matter.

From old postcards to new chapters, this city carries forward a story shaped by community, resilience, and possibility.

Rooted Here. Rising Together. A reminder that honoring where we come from is part of building what comes next.

MeaningFULL Meals started with one simple idea—and grew into neighbors showing up for each other across Greensboro.

“What if our neighborhood could help?”
That question sparked a food drive that brought people together—and showed what’s possible when one person steps up.

MeaningFULL Meals showed exactly what’s possible when a community shows up.

Neighbors stepped up, families were supported, and small actions came together to make a real impact across Greensboro by getting 1,372lbs of food donated.

Because at its core, this effort has always been about one thing: neighbors showing up for one another—and building something stronger together.

Stay connected and be part of what’s next—follow along and find ways to get involved year-round at unitedwaygso.org.

A round of applause for Cathy Flannery's neighborhood and Preston Cox of Perpetual Motion for their amazing donation efforts. A generous thank you to Arch Mortgage for not only donating but also volunteering in sorting and delivering donations!

Belonging isn't optional—it's essential to whether people can thrive.

When LGBTQ+ neighbors feel safe, supported, and valued, opportunity grows—and our entire community is stronger because of it.

At United Way of Greater Greensboro, we work alongside partners across our city to remove barriers and advance equity—so every individual and family has the opportunity to build stability and move forward.

Celebrate Pride with action: learn about local resources, share this message, and sign up to stay connected to opportunities that support equity and belonging across Greensboro.

Leadership moves our community forward.

At our Leadership Circle Celebration, we honored the individuals and partners who are investing in Greensboro’s future—and helping create real pathways out of poverty.

Thank you to our hosts Kathy & Daniel Craft and presenting sponsor VF Corp. for bringing this moment to life.
We were proud to recognize Vern & Deana Hawkins for their leadership and commitment to community impact, and to hear from Gary Bullard of Triad Goodwill, whose work through Careers on the Outside is helping individuals build new beginnings and lasting stability.

This is what leadership looks like in action—partners working together to expand opportunity and strengthen our community.

Leadership Circle members are more than supporters—they are partners in advancing solutions, strengthening connections, and creating pathways forward across Greensboro.

Today, we pause to honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.

We hold space for their sacrifice — and for the families and loved ones who carry that loss every day.

On this Memorial Day, we reflect with gratitude and respect, and we honor the lives remembered by continuing to show up for one another.

24+ people. One goal. Real impact.

We’re halfway through the MeaningFULL Meals Drive—and our community is already showing up.
More than 24 people have stepped in to help make sure families across Greensboro have access to the meals they need.

But we’re not done yet.

We’ve still got the rest of the month to keep the momentum going—and every donation helps move us closer to making sure children in our area don't go hungry this summer.

Join in. Give what you can. Be part of what we’re building together.
