United Way of Greater Greensboro

United Way of Greater Greensboro We bring Greensboro together to end poverty—one action, one partnership, one life at a time. Be part of the impact. Our focus: End poverty now.

We unite people and organizations to improve lives and move Greensboro forward. We believe people are more than their circumstances. Poverty is a cycle our community can break — together. That’s why we stand with families and ignite the caring power of Greensboro to help households build lasting stability and pride. Our work begins with listening and learning, leads to strategic action powered by

partnerships, and grows through relentless collaboration with changemakers across our region. We:
• Show up like good neighbors
• Lead the way locally
• Align partners and resources
• Share knowledge and drive change

No one can end poverty alone. But aligned, it’s possible.

Change happens when people show up.

This year, 1,165 volunteers invested their time and talent to strengthen families and create opportunities across Greater Greensboro.

Every family supported, every barrier reduced, and every milestone reached was made possible by people who chose to get involved.

Volunteers are more than supporters—they are partners in building a community where more families can thrive.

Be part of what's possible. Learn how you can volunteer, advocate, or invest in local solutions that create lasting change.

A 200-year legacy can do more than honor the past. It can help shape the future.

As First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, North Carolina prepared to celebrate its bicentennial, it chose to invest in the future of local families through a partnership with United Way of Greater Greensboro.

Through a $240,000 gift supporting Family Success Centers, the church is helping expand opportunities for families working toward greater stability. Partnerships like this demonstrate what's possible when organizations unite around a shared commitment to strengthening our community.

Behind every number is a person, a family, and a story.

Last years, community partnerships helped make measurable progress across Greater Greensboro:

✅ 438 individuals gained employment
✅ 731 individuals secured or maintained housing
✅ 4,433 individuals received healthy food
✅ 84% of K–3 students tutored are reading on grade level

These outcomes don't happen by chance. They're possible because donors, volunteers, partners, and community members continue investing in solutions that work.

See the full impact of our community's investment in the 2024–25 Annual Report.

No one organization can end poverty alone.

Creating pathways to economic mobility takes nonprofits, businesses, schools, healthcare providers, faith communities, government partners, donors, volunteers, and neighbors working toward a shared goal. That's the work happening every day across Greater Greensboro.

Real change happens when a community moves together.

She lost everything during Hurricane Helene. Today, her family is building a new future.

When Hurricane Helene uprooted Portia's family, stability felt out of reach. A newborn in the NICU, housing uncertainty, and three other children depending on her meant every day brought new challenges. Through Guilford Success Network and a coordinated network of local partners, Portia found support, resources, and a path forward.

Today, her family has a safe place to call home and a plan for what's next.
"My family is happy and safe. We lost everything, but now we have gained so much more."

Read Portia's full story in our 2024–25 Annual Report and see what's possible when a community unites around families.

1,100 P&G employees. Two days of service. A lasting impact across Greensboro.

During P&G's annual Community Service Day, employees volunteered across our community, supporting organizations and initiatives that help Greensboro thrive. UWGG was proud to help connect additional volunteer opportunities through our network of strategic partners.

From landscaping and painting to organizing classrooms and cleaning adaptive equipment, volunteers tackled projects that will have an impact long after the workday ended.

"This group was amazing. You have no idea how many days' worth of work they completed in 3 hours," shared one facilities manager.

Thank you, P&G P&G , for your continued investment in our community.
