HALLOWEEN SILENT AUCTIONS ARE CLOSING ON 10/13/26

Did you see the two Halloween themed silent auctions that we posted on 9/19 & 9/20/26, with photos and lists of contents? Both baskets are overflowing – seriously - all the items won’t fit inside the baskets. In addition to the cool Halloween theme, there’s plenty that will be useful all year long.

Bidding on a silent auction is double the fun: something special for you and food/medical care/shelter for the rescues. Think of it as guilt free shopping 😊

Please take a look at the silent auctions on the website https://www.doberman-rescue.com/fundraising/auctions/, and place your bid. Both auctions will close on Tuesday, 10/13/26 at 6:00 PM EDT.

ONE BONDED PAIR HAS A NEW FOREVER HOME
BUT ONE BONDED PAIR STILL NEEDS A FAMILY

Yankee and Doodle have gone home! THANK YOU to everyone who shared the recent Facebook post about the two bonded pairs at Elijah’s House. Two photos below show the big smiles and happy faces on Yankee and Doodle on their adoption day and now snuggled in their comfy beds.

Our recent post about the two bonded pairs at Elijah’s House was the most shared post in DRT’s Facebook history! But the work is only half done. Gin Gin and Prosecco still need a forever home. Would you help once again and hit your shared button a second time? We know there is a great home for this loving, well behaved pair of Dobes. Remember, DRT does not limit adoptions to North Carolina.

If you have questions about Gin Gin and Prosecco please email them to DRT at [email protected]. Read more about the pair, their bios and personalities, and see lots of photos on the DRT website. You’ll also find the online application there. Here are the links.

WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE
Finding homes for adult, bonded pairs is always challenging and we have TWO sets at Elijah’s House. We really need your help, whether by opening your home to a pair or sharing this post and information with other Dobe lovers who might.

Both pairs share these fine characteristics.
1. Adult dogs that have a known size, personality and temperament and already know several commands.
2. Both sets are happy, active Dobes, but without the need for the greater physical stimulation that’s required by young dogs. They are content and entertain each other.
3. Senior Dobes often settle in quicker and possess an emotional maturity that makes them empathetic companions
4. Each pair has been with DRT for several months and they really deserve to be in their forever homes.

Prosecco (cropped male) and Gin Gin (cropped female) are the black/rust pair, 7-8 years old.
Yankee (cropped, one ear flops, male) and Doodle (cropped female) are the red pair, 9-10 years old.

We’ve included several photos here but please read their bios on the website to learn specifics on each. You’ll find lots of comments from the volunteers giving details about their personalities and temperaments. So many good comments.

The pairs need your help – it could make the difference.
Adoptions are NOT limited to North Carolina.

Here are links to their bios and the online application. Please email DRT at [email protected] if you have questions. Thank you.

DOLLY IS AT REST

DRT pulled Dolly from the shelter on the day she was due to die. She was an elderly Dobe with numerous health problems – but DRT does not pick and choose. She deserved a chance to live and to be loved. And goodness did she show her worth. Every volunteer was delighted with her kindness, her gentle spirit, her youthful attitude, her affectionate nature and her appreciation for every bit of love shown to her. Everyone was pulling so hard for her. But years of lack of care, and possibly even abuse, proved to be more than even DRT and NC State Veterinary School’s determined efforts could overcome. The time came when we could tell that she was ready for the suffering to end, and DRT stayed beside her as she passed. She left knowing she was loved. We thank everyone who helped give her this chance – to the volunteers and to the donors who helped with her medical care (which we are still paying for).

Maybe give your Dobe an extra hug today.

DANDY – AND HE IS THAT!
Last week we introduced you to Yankee and Doodle (a bonded pair), today we finish the series with DANDY. This big, red, cropped male is absolutely gorgeous. He’s lived with cats, gets along with other dogs and loves to play in water. Dandy really wants to please and although he is quite strong on lead, he responds to corrections. Simply put – this is a showstopper of a Dobe.

He’s just arrived at Elijah’s House, so his basic bio is up on the DRT website now and more information and volunteer observations will be added. If you like – Apply!
Email DRT at [email protected] if you have questions. Thank you.

Here’s are the links to his bio website and the online application.

THE NEW BONDED PAIR – YANKEE and DOODLE

Yankee and Doodle were named in honor of July 4th , since they arrived at Elijah’s House just before that. Yankee is a red male with cropped and flopped ears, while Doodle is a red, cropped female. Sometimes, when Yankee is cavorting, you’ll see one ear stand – it’s so cute, check out his photos. They are a loving, bonded pair who must go to their forever home together. We’re still learning about them, but we can already say that they have sweet personalities, are easy to work with and come when called - always a great feature! They’re also just plain fun to be around – Yankee will play chase with you and Doodle loves the chuck-it ball.

Adopting a bonded pair means that each dog has their own ‘security blanket’ to take with them into their new home, which can help with the transition to their new world. Don’t automatically discount the idea of two, because two Dobes are not really double the work but they are double the love.

More pictures and their basic bios are up on the website now and more information will be posted soon, all at this link. www.Doberman-Rescue.com/dogs

Email DRT at [email protected] if you have any questions. Thank you for considering a Doberman rescue to add life to your life.

THE DRT AMAZON WISH LIST IS ACTIVE
(Plus read the SURPRISE at the end!)

DRT’s Amazon Wish List is active again. For a while earlier this year it was not, so if you tried to use it and couldn’t, you may wish to give it another try. The list includes dog treats, cleaning and safety items. Several of the dog treats are on sale (for Prime members) during Prime Days 6/23-26/26.

Here is the link for DRT’s Amazon wish list.

And of course the Chewy Wish List is another option.

Prosecco and Gin Gin, the bonded pair who are looking for their forever home, say Yum, Yum and Thanks! 😊

AND NOW FOR THE SURPRISE. A SECOND BONDED PAIR HAS JUST ARRIVED AT ELIJAH'S HOUSE! PICTURES OF YANKEE AND DOODLE WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE ON SUNDAY NIGHT.
