DOLLY IS AT REST

DRT pulled Dolly from the shelter on the day she was due to die. She was an elderly Dobe with numerous health problems – but DRT does not pick and choose. She deserved a chance to live and to be loved. And goodness did she show her worth. Every volunteer was delighted with her kindness, her gentle spirit, her youthful attitude, her affectionate nature and her appreciation for every bit of love shown to her. Everyone was pulling so hard for her. But years of lack of care, and possibly even abuse, proved to be more than even DRT and NC State Veterinary School’s determined efforts could overcome. The time came when we could tell that she was ready for the suffering to end, and DRT stayed beside her as she passed. She left knowing she was loved. We thank everyone who helped give her this chance – to the volunteers and to the donors who helped with her medical care (which we are still paying for).

DANDY – AND HE IS THAT!
Last week we introduced you to Yankee and Doodle (a bonded pair), today we finish the series with DANDY. This big, red, cropped male is absolutely gorgeous. He’s lived with cats, gets along with other dogs and loves to play in water. Dandy really wants to please and although he is quite strong on lead, he responds to corrections. Simply put – this is a showstopper of a Dobe.

He’s just arrived at Elijah’s House, so his basic bio is up on the DRT website now and more information and volunteer observations will be added. If you like – Apply!

THE NEW BONDED PAIR – YANKEE and DOODLE

Yankee and Doodle were named in honor of July 4th , since they arrived at Elijah’s House just before that. Yankee is a red male with cropped and flopped ears, while Doodle is a red, cropped female. Sometimes, when Yankee is cavorting, you’ll see one ear stand – it’s so cute, check out his photos. They are a loving, bonded pair who must go to their forever home together. We’re still learning about them, but we can already say that they have sweet personalities, are easy to work with and come when called - always a great feature! They’re also just plain fun to be around – Yankee will play chase with you and Doodle loves the chuck-it ball.

Adopting a bonded pair means that each dog has their own ‘security blanket’ to take with them into their new home, which can help with the transition to their new world. Don’t automatically discount the idea of two, because two Dobes are not really double the work but they are double the love.

TWO ART PRINTS
Something different for the Silent Auctions

A kind supporter of animal rescue, LuAnne C, has donated two lovely prints to Doberman Rescue of the Triad for the silent auction.

Both prints are by native N.C. artists who have become famous nationwide. Each is unframed, signed & numbered, and includes a certificate of authenticity.

‘ Porch Bouquet’ is by Bob Timberlake. You’ll recognize his name from his artwork, furniture design and home furnishings.

‘First Arrivals’ is by David E. Doss, from 1995. Doss is now a licensed artist for Disney.

As always, all proceeds from these silent auctions go to the care and rehoming of our beloved Doberman rescues.

PROSECCO and GIN GIN
Prosecco and Gin Gin are a lovely and loving bonded pair. They live, work and love as a team. You could add your family to that team and have something very special.

Check out the video posted on 5/24/26 of the duo playing at Elijah’s House with the ‘Chuck It Ball’. They may each have a different idea on how to play the game, but look how easy going and happy they are.
