Piedmont Triad Woodturners was organized in 1999 for persons living in this area and is an active, friendly group of individuals all with a common interest in woodturning. We have a wide range of talent in the group, ranging from some who are recognized nationally for their talent to those who are just learning to turn. Interaction between members and their desire to share their knowledge with eac
h other is evident from the conversations between members at our meetings. Our goal is to provide the community with an opportunity to experience the craft of woodturning through sharing, demonstrating and teaching. Our meetings begin with a lot of interaction between members as they arrive and bring recent work for the instant gallery. The instant gallery often has a new member's first piece and also advanced pieces that we are all interested in learning how they were turned and finished it. As the instant gallery is presented, members are given a chance to tell something about their entry. A turning demonstration is part of each meeting, sometimes by one of our members and sometimes by a nationally known invited guest. There is always a time of questions and answers. Sharing ideas and knowledge is the lifeline for all woodturners. We pride ourselves in achieving the best possible method of work and then sharing our knowledge with others. Our desire is to provide something for each member whether a beginner or experienced turner. Our meetings are open to everyone so visit with us and experience what we have to offer. We meet at 6:30 PM on the second Tuesday of each month at the Leonard Recreation center in Greensboro, NC. Our meetings generally follow this schedule:
6:00 – 6:30 PRE-MEETING SETUP A time for sharing ideas with each other. Set up equipment, place items into Instant Gallery and Raffle.
6:30 – 7:00 MEETING BEGINS Business, Instant Gallery Presentation and Raffle
7:00 – 9:00Demonstration
9:00 – 9:10 Clean-up
