The United Holy Church of America, Incorporated is the oldest Holiness-Pentecostal Church in the United States, founded May 2, 1886, during a religious meeting that was held in a cottage in Method, just miles from Raleigh, North Carolina. Four young men who earnestly desired to experience a deeper walk with Jesus Christ through a spiritual dedication met to discuss their faith. They had no intenti
on of departing from their established churches but were driven out because of preaching the doctrine of holiness and sanctification. Our founders were also present at the watershed revival that occurred at 312 Azusa Street and understood the Pentecostal experience as apart of their doctrine. Evangelists that were scattered in the wilderness where the harvest was truly plenteous but the laborers were few. The flames of evangelism burned the hearts of our founders as they spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. What began as a few Pentecostal assemblies in the backwoods of North Carolina and Virginia has grown into a global church that is comprised of more than 500 churches internationally incorporated into a connectional body of 17 districts and 8 territories with headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina. The first leader of our church was the late Elder Lewis M. Mason and the vision has been captured by the successive leader, Most Reverend Gregory K. Most Reverend Gregory K. Hargrave serves as Presiding Prelate and in the civic office of President of the “General Church.”
