Early voting begins today in North Carolina!

Any eligible voter can go and vote early from October 15-31st. You can register and vote on the same day during early voting, you just need to be sure to bring the right form of identification:

🪪 A valid photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID, passport, military ID, or tribal card)

🖊️ Any notes or materials to help you vote

👭🏽 A friend who is also eligible to vote

There are early voting locations all over, so find your nearest site by searching on www.NCsbe.gov or call your local county election office at 919-814-0700.

Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close today, but the contributions of Hispanic and Latino neighbors are part of Greensboro every day.

You see them in our local businesses, schools, healthcare, arts, and community organizations. Many have called the Triad home for generations. Others are building a life here more recently.

At CWS Greensboro, we have the opportunity to work alongside families from different parts of Latin America. We see how much work goes into starting over in a new place, but we also get to know the people, their experiences, and what they bring to our community.

To our Hispanic and Latino clients, colleagues, volunteers, and partners, ¡gracias! We appreciate everything you contribute to Greensboro.

As we close out Hispanic Heritage Month, we'd love to recognize more of the people and organizations making a difference locally.

Join us this Saturday, October 17th at 10:30am for Ballots & Breakfast! 🥐☕️

Over breakfast, coffee, and tea, we’ll look at what’s on the ballot, what different offices do, and talk about how they affect our communities. We’ll also work through sample ballots and enjoy some election trivia!

This is a nonpartisan voter education event, and everyone is welcome. Interpretation and transportation are available; you can indicate what you need when you RSVP, and the location will be shared after registration.

🗳️ Every voice. Every vote. Let’s walk together.

On Sunday, October 25, more than twenty Greensboro organizations working on immigrant justice, health care, workers’ rights, racial justice, affordability, environmental justice, and voting rights will walk to early voting side by side. We’d love for you to walk with us!

📍 2:00 PM: Gather at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 901 E. Friendly Ave.
Speakers, the Community Gospel Choir, the Grimsley High School Blue Steel Drumline, and giant butterfly puppets from Paperhand Puppet Intervention will send us off in style.

🚶🏽‍♀️ Then we walk nine-tenths of a mile to the early voting site at the old Guilford County Courthouse, 301 W. Market St. There, information tables from our endorsing organizations, a Kids Mock Voting Booth, and music from the Ragin’ Grannies and Singing Resistance will fill the lawn.

This is a multicultural, interfaith, nonpartisan event, and everyone is welcome. No registration is required, but please register at unitywalkgso.com so we can plan for accessibility and shuttles. Carpooling is encouraged, and as needed shuttles will bring walkers back to the church after the program.

Bring your family, your neighbors, and your congregation. Let’s show Greensboro what unity looks like. 💛

Thank you to the Almighty Knights of the Prodigal Pi Chapter of Psi Sigma Phi Multicultural Fraternity, Inc. for hosting an Agua Fresca Fundraiser for CWS Greensboro.

We are grateful for the time, creativity, and care you put into supporting refugees and immigrants in the Piedmont Triad.
And thank you to everyone who stopped by The Rawk for Agua de Piña or Horchata.

This kind of support matters. It raises funds, yes, but it also brings more people into the work and starts conversations across campus and community.
