“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”

“𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞”

Sometimes we ask God to use us mightily—but we forget that usefulness often comes after brokenness.

The Bible describes us as earthen vessels—ordinary clay jars. Clay looks whole on the outside, but it is fragile. And when God allows pressure, cracks, or even breaking, it’s not to destroy us. It’s to reveal what’s inside us.

Imagine a vessel with light trapped inside. As long as it remains sealed and unbroken, the light stays hidden. But once the vessel cracks, the light begins to escape. What looks like brokenness becomes the very pathway for God’s glory to shine.

God does not break us out of cruelty—He breaks us out of love and purpose. Pride must break so humility can rise. Self-reliance must break so faith can flow. Control must break so surrender can lead.

Brokenness is not the end of your story.
It is the doorway to divine usefulness.

When you feel cracked, pressed, or humbled—remember this:
The light is not leaving you. It’s finally being seen.

At sunrise, I found my grandmother outside, sprinkling water beside the doorway.

“Grandma, why do you pray before everyone wakes?” I asked.

She smiled. “Because morning is a seed. What you place inside it can grow throughout the day.”

Then she lifted her hands and prayed:

“Lord, thank You for the gift of another morning. Walk ahead of us where our eyes cannot see. Give strength to tired hearts, wisdom to confused minds, and peace to homes carrying silent burdens.

Protect our families, guide our decisions, and bless the work of our hands. Close every door that would lead us away from purpose, and open the ones that will make us useful to others.

Teach us to speak gently, work honestly, forgive quickly, and remain grateful.

May today bring progress, favour, good health, and reasons to smile.”

She looked at me and said, “Never begin your day empty. Fill it with prayer.”

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

Going to church, praying, or standing at the altar doesn’t automatically fix your life. Real change only happens when you take responsibility and actually change your behavior. Faith opens the door—but action is what walks you through it.
