Mark your calendars for this free virtual event. We look forward to breaking the barriers and addressing the stigma related to neurodiversity, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and manhood. We will also highlight the importance of understanding culture, discuss early signs, and briefly cover the differences in levels and treatment.

A large portion of men who report domestic violence in their relationships are under the age of 25. This statistic suggests that our children, youth, and young adults are impacted greatly by harmful intimate relational patterns. However, because of stigma related to manhood and cultural relational norms, help seeking is less likely to occur after a man has been abused. This month let’s take the time to explain to our children and youth what healthy relationships are. Be it intimate or personal if it involves abuse, maltreatment, or manipulation it’s not a relationship we should have.

October is Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) AKA Domestic Violence Awareness month. IPV is often thought of as being related to physical maltreatment and/or abuse. Greater still, IPV in this way is considered to be a male dominate offense. However, IPV isn’t gender specific. IPV includes physical, mental, psychological, and financial abuse; as well as, damage to property, threatening to withhold children or property, verbal aggression/abuse, and threatening pets/animals. As we progress through this month let us continue to monitor our families and communities as we support survivors of IPV.

Your unique way of viewing the world, the people in it, and problems within systems will always be related to an area you’ve been called to change. Don’t assume others know what you know, see what you see, or want to change things for the better. Your gift makes room for you, and in doing so, makes room for the change you’ve been called to enact.
