Join us for this final Moral Monday before the election! We're seeing the rise of a New South where the world will witness - and we will claim - the POWER of our vote in the community. A New South where we can feel certain that the policies coming from our state & national governments were crafted by the will of the people - Not by corrupt billionaires, not by dirty deals negotiated behind closed doors in dark rooms. We are ready to usher in this new era where democracy has a seat at the table for all her followers!

Sixty-one years ago today, the Voting Rights Act became law after generations of Black organizers, freedom fighters, and everyday people risked everything to secure one of our most fundamental rights—the right to vote.

As the High Point Branch of the NAACP, we honor their courage and sacrifice while recognizing that the fight for voting rights is far from over. Years of coordinated efforts and court decisions have weakened key protections of this landmark legislation, creating new barriers to equal access at the ballot box.

History reminds us that every advancement in civil rights and Black political power has come through collective action. People organized, marched, advocated, voted, and refused to be silenced.

While the Voting Rights Act has been weakened, our commitment to protecting the freedom to vote remains unwavering.

Today is more than an anniversary. It is a call to action. The High Point Branch of the NAACP remains dedicated to defending voting rights, empowering our community, and ensuring that every eligible voter has an equal opportunity to make their voice heard.

The work continues, and so does our commitment.
