Happy Mother’s Day to the moms, grandmas, bonus moms, aunties, fur babies moms and all the amazing women who make life sweeter, stronger, and way more fun.

Today we celebrate the ones cheering from the sidelines, pushing swings at the playground, packing the snacks, planning the adventures, and making memories in our parks, trails, lakes, recreation centers, and neighborhoods every single day.

Whether your perfect Mother’s Day includes a peaceful walk on the trail, a picnic in the park, paddling on the lake, or just soaking up sunshine with the people you love most, we hope your day is full of joy, laughter, and a little time to relax.

Happy Mother’s Day from Greensboro Parks and Recreation Foundation.

May is a time to celebrate the wisdom, strength, and contributions of older adults in our community. 💙

Greensboro Parks and Recreation Foundation is proud to recognize Older Americans Month 2026, themed “Champion Your Health.” This year’s focus encourages older adults to take an active role in their well-being through prevention, wellness, and informed health choices.

This month highlights the important role older adults play in strengthening families and communities while promoting independence and active aging.

Join us in celebrating and supporting the seniors who make Greensboro stronger every day!

Plants, people, and a little bit of history with attitude.
If you think a cemetery tour sounds boring, think again. The Plants and the Planted: Green Hill Cemetery Walking Tour is where stories are deep, trees are older than your great-grandparents’ opinions, and every monument has something to say if you’re paying attention.

We’re walking through history—literally—alongside towering trees, beautiful shrubs, and the fascinating lives of those laid to rest at this historic site. It’s part history lesson, part nature walk, and fully worth your morning or afternoon.

Bring your curiosity, comfortable shoes, and maybe a little respect for the fact that these trees have been standing on business for decades.

Green Hill Cemetery
Saturday, May 9, 10-11am
Sunday, May 10, 2–4 pm
$5 per person (cash only, pay at tour)

Tours begin at the southern-most gate on Wharton Street near Fisher Avenue.

Weather cancellations will be posted at https://friendsofgreenhillcemetery.org/tours

Champions in the Ring and in the Community
We’re proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of the Greensboro Boxing Club, which recently delivered a standout performance at the Carolina Gloves Tournament, bringing home five championship titles and showcasing the power of discipline, mentorship, and hard work.
From first-time competitors to seasoned athletes, these young boxers represented Greensboro with grit, determination, and pride. Their success is no accident, it’s the result of consistent training, strong coaching, and a program that believes in developing the whole athlete.
Through programs like the Greensboro Boxing Club, based at Lindley Recreation Center and supported by Greensboro Parks Foundation, young people gain:
- Access to competitive opportunities across the region
- Mentorship and structure
- A pathway to confidence, leadership, and personal growth
Many of these athletes rely on community support to help cover travel, meals, and competition costs, ensuring that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of opportunity.
Every dollar helps provide access, opportunity, and life-changing experiences for Greensboro youth.
You can help keep this momentum going.

Spring said “I’m here,” and honestly… she understood the assignment

Today is the first day of spring, and the weather is showing OFF with temps predicted around 71 degrees. That’s not a forecast… that’s an invitation.

Time to get outside, hit your favorite park, take a walk, let the kids run wild, or just sit in the sunshine like you’ve got nowhere to be (because for a minute… you don’t).

Fresh air, blue skies, and a whole new season to play in.

Go ahead and make some plans… your couch will still be there later.
