We are a small public library serving the residents of Greenfield, IL and the rural area surrounding it.

Hats off to the HalloweenTown committee for kicking off the spooky season with a bang! The library team was excited to be a part of it. I’d like to thank Teryl Cook for planning the games, making several of them, supervising them, and also decorating our whole area. In addition, a big thanks to board members Marysue Nettles and Lisa Hogan Bishop who faithfully manned spooky games the whole evening. Our new director, Danyle Houseman, got initiated to our wonderful community events by supervising the prize table and helping with the Halloween Nerf Shoot. She enjoyed meeting people, and can’t wait to start welcoming all of you to the library!

Big things are taking shape!! Come and enjoy our own Community HalloweenTown! Fun and games from 5-8 and then the movie starts at 8:00!

Just look at all of the fall fun being planned for this Saturday, starting at 5:00 and finishing with the movie Halloweentown starting at 8:00! The library board and director will be in the corner by the brick marquis with games and prizes for the kids! Join us for this first time community event!

9-2-5 Day is being celebrated across the United States today! Since Dolly founded The Imagination Library 31 years ago, millions of books have been mailed to children worldwide because she knew the importance of reading and literacy. If you have a child 5 years or under, please sign up for this wonderful program on their website. Every child’s first book will be The Little Engine That Could- chosen specifically by Dolly to emphasize perseverance. From then on a new book will be sent each month!
And- in honor of Dolly, please read a book with your child today 🩷📚🩷

The city of Greenfield will be taking necessary precautions to prepare the library for the demo next door. Thanks to them and to all who offered supplies, but it’s taken care of!

As the library prepares for the upcoming demolition of the building to our west, it’s recommended that we cover doors, windows, and ceiling vents to help prevent dust from filtering in. There are two large windows and three doors- two with side panels. Without being in there we don’t remember exactly how many ceiling vents there are. Since we won’t need huge amounts, would anyone have any house wrap or heavy plastic they would be willing to donate for this project? Any advice on best tape to use- painters tape, duct tape? We’d be very appreciate of any advice or help in addition to the plastic or house wrap. Thanks so much!
