I have the great privilege of personally knowing Ken his testimony is so powerful and it is honor to get to serve in The Salvation Army with him.
Twenty-five years ago, Salvation Army responder Ken Tregellas left his family in Wisconsin and flew to New York to serve at Ground Zero.
As The Salvation Army’s Red Zone coordinator, he spent months caring for recovery workers and families searching for answers about their loved ones. He provided meals and places to rest, but also listened, offered prayer and helped people carry the weight of unimaginable loss.
Years later, Ken was diagnosed with cancer connected to his exposure at Ground Zero. When his children asked if he would make the same decision knowing the risks, his answer was simple: “I wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was an honor.”
