Calling all young readers!! Are ready for your next big adventure?

It’s time to gear up for our upcoming book sale brought to you by the Friends of Hancock County Public Library. Ask your mom, dad, grandma or grandpa to bring you to the Hancock County Public Library! Heck, beg your favorite aunt, uncle or older sibling who drives to arrange your visit! You won't want to miss this!

We have a special mission for you: grab one of these awesome "Battle of the Books" drawstring bags and fill it to the brim with your favorite kids' books for only $3.00!!!

The Challenge:

Pick Your Bag: Look for the light blue bag which can be found with one of our cashiers at the sale entrance.

Fill It Up: Hunt through our massive selection of children's stories and picture books.

Utilize your allowance (or ask mom or dad! 😆) to pay your bag of goodies for only $3.00!

One Simple Rule: This bag is specifically for kids' books only! No young adult books, please!

Whether you're looking for princes or princesses, a story about your favorite doll, or racecars and fire trucks, there is a treasure waiting for you. Let’s see how many stories you can fit into your "Battle of the Books" drawstring bag!

When: Starting Friday, May 15th, through Monday, May 18th

Let’s be honest: your house is already full of books you swear you’re going to read, but your heart still skips a beat when you walk into a library. It’s okay. We’re all friends here.

Specifically, we are Friends of the Hancock County Library, and we are looking for a little love (and by love, we mean donations).

Why give?

Tax Deductible: It’s basically like the government is paying you to be smart.

Community Vibes: You’re funding everything from toddler storytime to that one guy who spends eight hours a day researching 14th-century plumbing.

Karma: Every dollar you donate cancels out one late fee you’ve been avoiding since 2012. (Okay, not really, but it feels true).

Whether it’s the cost of a fancy latte or the price of a hardcover bestseller, your donation helps us keep the "lit" in literature.

This is it, folks! Last book sale of 2025! And here is EVERYTHING!!! Come and make a great selection at our Bag Day Sale! $2 for a plastic grocery bag, $3 for a paper bag, and $5 for a box! We have all 3 available, no need to bring your own!

And as a special treat, we invite all non-profits, daycare facilities, homeschool teachers, public and private school teachers, assisted living and nursing home activities directors, and anyone that I may have missed to take advantage of our "Cleaning Out the Closet" sale! From 2pm to close on Monday, we invite you to come and collect up to 2 boxes of books, free! All we ask is you bring some kind of proof of your affiliation to show us you are who say you are. Pass the word along and help us "Clean out our Closet!"
