H.J. Ricks Centre For The Arts

H.J. Ricks Centre For The Arts Concerts, Plays, Presentations, and Private Functions The H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts originally opened as a 1946 ArtDeco/Art Moderne style movie house.

After significant restoration and rennovation, it re-opened in 2006, and is now the focal point for live artistic performances in Greenfield, IN

Just 25 miles east of Indianapolis in Hancock County, the 386-seat facility features professional lighting and sound capabilities for live productions as well as a quality audio-visual system for multi-media and cinematic presentations. The Ricks Centre,

122 W. Main St., is located in the center of Greenfield’s downtown National Register Historic District and is a keystone to the area’s growing Arts and Cultural district. Whether it’s for theatrical productions, concerts, or any of the myriad other types of events that it hosts, the Ricks Centre is small enough to provide an intimate ambiance yet large enough for commercial promotions and activities. It is fully handicapped accessible with newly renovated restrooms and an elevator to its second floor offices and art gallery. Owned and operated by the Hancock County Visitors Bureau Inc. as primarily a for-rent performance facility, Ricks Centre events have ranged from Canadian songstresses The Wailin’ Jennies, The Amazing Kreskin, regional rocker Jennie DeVoe and the big band Brandywine Wind to stage productions that included Neil Simon’s Rumors and The Odd Couple, the military courtroom drama A Few Good Men, musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof and Momma Mia, many children’s theatre presentations and much more. The Ricks Centre has also hosted stand-up comedy, beauty pageants, talent contests, variety shows, scholarship competitions, religious services, film festivals and many other event genres. If you are a Central Indiana resident looking for quality, affordable entertainment away from the congestion of metro Indy, a visitor looking for experiences to enhance your stay or a promoter searching for a quality, tech-savvy venue for your next production, Greenfield’s H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts could be the answer you’re looking for.

Apparently yesterday was National Nonprofit Day.

We missed it.

Probably because we were too busy… being a nonprofit. 😂🎭

The H.J. Ricks Theatre doesn't run on some giant staff working behind the scenes. It runs because people in our community believe that this beautiful old theatre is worth keeping alive — and they're willing to give a little of their time to make it happen.

Board members. Volunteers. Concession helpers. Event crews. People sharing our posts, coming to shows, bringing their families, telling their friends and cheering us on.

Want to be part of it? We would LOVE to have you. ❤️

🙋 VOLUNTEER: Help us keep the popcorn popping, the doors open and the shows going. Whether you can help once in a while or want to get more involved, there's a place for you at The Ricks.

📬 JOIN OUR NEWSLETTER: Want to know what's coming to the theatre before Facebook decides whether or not to show you our post? Sign up for our newsletter and get The Ricks delivered straight to your inbox.

Because The Ricks isn't just a building.

It's a community project — and there's room for you in it. 🎬🍿❤️

Drop us a message if you'd like to volunteer, and check the comments for our newsletter signup link! 👇

🎉🥁 STOP THE MUSIC! (Actually, Tony would probably prefer that we didn't.) IT'S TONY'S BIRTHDAY! 🥁🎉

If you've ever enjoyed a concert at Depot Street Park, caught a show at The Ricks, wandered through a downtown event, listened to live music somewhere around Greenfield, or simply thought, “Man, there's always something fun happening around here…” — there's a pretty good chance Tony Seiler had something to do with it. 😂

Tony is our Executive Director here at The Ricks, but that title doesn't begin to cover it.

Musician. Sound guy. Music-store owner. Concert wrangler. Marquee changer. Community supporter. Champion of live entertainment. Guy who knows approximately EVERY musician within a 100-mile radius. And somehow, despite having about 47 things happening at any given moment, one of the most genuinely fun people you'll ever meet.

Tony doesn't just work in Greenfield's arts and entertainment community — he helps make it what it is.

And we are ridiculously lucky that he brings all that energy, creativity, knowledge, humor, and heart to The Ricks.

So today, we're asking all of you to help us make a little noise for the guy who spends so much of his time making sure the rest of us have something worth making noise about.

🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TONY! 🎂

We hope your day includes great music, good people, absolutely NO technical difficulties, and — just this once — someone else changing the marquee. 😂❤️

Drop Tony some birthday love in the comments! 👇🎉

A magical moment under the marquee.👰‍♀

A training session bringing local boards and officials together.🏢

A room full of Helen Ropers that had even Stanley smiling.📿

At first glance, these photos don't seem to have much in common.

But they all tell the same story...

The Ricks Theatre is more than a place to catch a show. It's a place to gather.

Whether you're planning a meeting, training session, retreat, workshop, fundraiser, birthday party, anniversary celebration, reunion, or another special event, The Ricks offers a unique space full of character.

And even if your event is somewhere else, our iconic marquee can help make your celebration even more memorable.🌟

If you're looking for a venue that's anything but ordinary, we'd love to help make your next event unforgettable.
