Questions regarding its content should be directed to middlemarches.seneschal@mi Whether you are interested in recreating the combat of the Middles Ages, learning about the history of your favorite civilization, or learning how to dance, make clothing, and make beautiful and useful things out of leather, metal and wood, you’ll be able to
find out all about it at your local SCA meeting. The Middle Marches is a collection of branches of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), located in central and southeastern Ohio. The Middle Marches is one of 29 baronies in the Middle Kingdom, which encompasses Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, part of Kentucky, a nip of Iowa, and a bit of Ontario. The SCA is a not-for-profit educational organization devoted to the study of pre-seventeenth century (pre-1600s) Western European Culture. It concentrates on the European Middle Ages and Renaissance, though some members also study Eastern cultures of those time periods as well. Members work to recreate the arts and skills of these eras through recreation of period activities and practices. The SCA was incorporated in 1968, but recognizes a tournament held in Berkeley, California, on May 1, 1966, as its founding date. Check out our Newcomers page above to find out more about the SCA and how you can participate! When you’re ready to come check it out, our Activities and Events page will show you where to find a meeting local to you.
