Whitefish Bay Little League does it again!!!

WISCONSIN VS. TENNESSEE: The Cardiac Kids from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin pulled another late-inning victory out of the hat on Wednesday, August 12 by beating Tennessee, 3-2. The win advanced Wisconsin to the 8 p.m. Thursday game against the loser of tonight’s California-Taylor game.
The loss eliminated Tennessee from championship play.
Both starting pitchers were superb – but Wisconsin’s Hudson Fox was just a little better than his counterpart, Tennessee pitcher Eli Goodman. Both teams broke through with single runs in the fourth inning to break up a scoreless tie. Wisconsin scored in the top half of the inning on an RBI single from Adrian Van Caster before Tennessee rebounded with an RBI single from KJ Taylor.
The game stayed 1-1 until the sixth, when Wisconsin sent eight hitters to the plate and scored twice for a 3-1 lead. The key moments included another RBI single from Van Caster and a bases-loaded walk to Fox.
But things got dicey in the bottom of the seventh. Brennon Thomas led off for Tennessee and hit Fox’s first pitch over the right-center field fence for a solo home run, cutting the lead to just 3-2. Taylor, the next hitter, drove a fading pop up to right field but second baseman Archie Peterson made a nice running catch for the first out … it was a play to file for later.
Tennessee’s Ames Taylor then drilled a long fly ball that was caught on the center field warning track for out No. 2. Down to what could be its last strike, Frankie Hyland singled to right field. That was Fox’s final pitch and he was relieved by Tyler Arnold.
Charlie Newburry greeted Arnold with a single to left-center field. Hyland represented the tying run on second and Newburry the potential winning run for Tennessee on first base, but Arnold got out of the jam and clinch Wisconsin’s second straight tight win by getting Goodman to ground out to end the game.
Remember: Without Peterson’s catch of that pop up, Tennessee likely scores the tying run somewhere along the way.
