Our Story
Equipping youth with excellent musical education and essential life skills while igniting an interest in the arts in our rural community.
Founded in August 2011, Hancock County Children’s Choir serves students aged 5-18 from 7 east central Indiana counties. Our rehearsal venue is Mount Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N 600 W, Greenfield, IN 46140. Rehearsals are weekly on Mondays during the school year from 4:30-6:30pm. The high school mixed honor ensemble meets on Mondays from 3:30-4:30pm. We have two primary performances, our Christmas Light the Lights production and our spring production. Our performance venue is Mount Vernon High School, Fortville, IN. Additionally, we perform in the community as well as offering travel opportunities.
We offer seven ensembles directed by degreed clinicians. Children aged 5-8 are not required to audition but instead complete a simple assessment with the director. Students 4th grade and up complete a vocal audition that includes a pitch-matching exercise, interview, singing, and dance (for our honor ensembles). The audition is low pressure and is conducted in a friendly and supportive environment.
New students always welcome!
