Philadelphia High School Senior Destiny Jackson is about to graduate from Belmont Charter High School in West Philadelphia after having been accepted by more than 50 colleges. Her choice is Spelman College, the women’s liberal arts school in Atlanta, often ranked as the No. 1 historically black college or university, or HBCU, in America. And her story and grit are worth celebrating.

Jackson has chosen Spelman College and will be one of the elite incoming freshmen, but the road to this accomplishment hasn't been easy.
