One of the educational programs at the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site which is funded by the Friends Group is an after school partnership with Hal Henard School. The partnerships include on-site visits/work and in-school activities. Shown are some students getting their on-site safety briefing and instructions before they begin planting trees and tending flower beds.

Wreaths Laying to Occur on December 7
On December 7th, the 82nd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Veterans' graves at the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery will have wreaths placed on them. The wreaths will be placed by volunteers after arriving at the National Cemetery following a procession from Lowes. The "Wreaths of Remembrance" project is sponsored by the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association, the official friends group of the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site.
The wreaths will depart from the Greeneville Lowes store at 8:45am. The trailer carrying over 2,000 wreaths will be escorted by the Greeneville City Police, Tusculum Fire Dept., US Military Veterans Motorcycle Club, and Legion Riders. The truck will have a banner on each side as seen in the accompanying photo.
The convoy will move down US 11E onto US 11E Business/Rt. 107/Tusculum Blvd. It will turn left onto N. Main St. at Walters State and proceed down N. Main through town and down West Main. Then it will turn left at Ashville Hwy/Rt. 70 and then left onto Forrest St. to Monument Ave. to the front of the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
As the Wreaths move through our community it is asked that the public take a moment to honor the sacrifices made by so many Veterans over the years.
Upon arrival at the Cemetery, the wreaths will be located throughout Monument Hill and volunteers will place them on the Veterans graves.
"We are indebted to our local Lowes for their support with this project this year as well as all the volunteers., and all those individuals and businesses who have donated to this project.," said George Collins, president of the Association. We still need donations to cover placing wreaths on 250 resting places." A donation of $10 peer wreath can be sent to AJHA, PO Box 5971, Greeneville, TN 37743
On Saturday, December 9th at 11:30 am a Day of Dedication ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery.
