Greene County Master Gardeners know how to throw a party! Tuesday evening was a perfect blend of warm fellowship, laughter, and some seriously impressive culinary creations – our group's cooking skills are definitely world-class! We swapped gifts, played some great games, and simply enjoyed being together.

It's nights like this that remind us how lucky we are to be part of such a vibrant and welcoming organization. Sharing our passion for gardening is wonderful, but the friendships we've cultivated are truly special.

Wishing you a holiday season filled with joy, good company, and maybe just a little bit of gardening!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. It's a day to give thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. In the U.S., it's celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, while in Canada, it's held on the second Monday of October.

Historically, Thanksgiving traditions are rooted in harvest festivals. The most well-known origin story in the U.S. involves the Pilgrims and the Native Americans in 1621, sharing a meal to celebrate the colony's first successful harvest. This event is often romanticized, but it symbolizes a moment of cooperation and gratitude.

Today, Thanksgiving is characterized by family gatherings, feasting, and traditions like turkey dinners, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. It's also a time for reflection and expressing gratitude for the good things in life. Many people participate in charitable activities, donating food or volunteering to help those in need. Thanksgiving is also unofficially considered the start of the holiday season, leading into Black Friday and the Christmas holidays.
