Rocky is here to say Happy Autumn to his friends — and thank you SO dearly to the kind individuals that have anonymously donated feed and supplies to our Misfits this year, especially food and snacks for himself! Hehe.

Rocky is one of our sweetest residents… but only to me (Britt) and my dad. Rock has severe trauma from the first year of his life — bred by a backyard breeder, neglected and tethered outside until his collar grew into his neck, was rescued by a sweet family that got him surgery to remove the collar, and then he arrived at the coven confused and scared. Due to this, Rocky has formed a strong bond with my dad and I, but he is extremely human reactive and has severe fear aggression. Rocky is why all volunteers and visits are by appointment only, for Rock’s safety and yours.

We have been so touched over the years for the care and support Rocky receives from afar. Thank you to everyone that sees reactive dogs as worthy as other doggos. They all deserve a second chance. It’s sometimes very difficult to handle, but Rock is my little love and we’d do anything for him. My perfect boy. 🩵

So anyways, THANK YOU again to everyone that has donated any item for the animals - we are truly grateful and beyond appreciative. Please share or check out our Chewy and Amazon wishlists if you’d like to support through a direct care item ❤️‍🩹🐕💜

Reactive dogs are good dogs, too! ✨🐶🫶

We’re beyond grateful to our generous donors and hard-working volunteers who make this crazy nonprofit animal rescue mission work somehow. 🙌🙌

Yesterday we were feeding the cows and horses when a massive truck came down our steep driveway. We weren’t expecting a delivery (and we certainly weren’t expecting the driver to ask if we had a forklift). 🚛 👀

Fortunately our newest volunteer, Deeg, was ready to jump in and help us solve the problem of getting these massive boxes off the truck and onto the ground safely.

Turns out, one of our most generous private donors had donated a 20-foot shed to the sanctuary to help us fix our growing storage issues. FWIW this same donor recently bought us another shed and several other items we needed for our rescue work (more on that later).

To say we’re touched, moved, and grateful for the financial and physical help these kind folks offer would be an understatement. Our animal residents are misfits who would have either been slaughtered, euthanized, or left to die were it not for rescue so we know they truly appreciate our kind supporters and you allow us to give them the life of peace, love, and understanding they deserve.

🙏🐮🐴🐔🐰🐶🐱🐢🙏

If you’d like to visit, volunteer, or make a tax-deductible donation to our small but growing woman-owned, veteran-run, 501(c)3 nonprofit rescue, please go to MisfitsCoven.org

Blessed Be ⛤

🐢 “A quick walk around the lake” turned into another adventure for the Coven crew. From the bridge over the spillway we spotted a tiny dark stone that seemed a bit out of place. Though it was far away, tiny, and not moving, somehow we both knew it was a turtle.

The only way to be sure it was an animals and see if it was alive was to scale the cement walls and drop down into the spillway for a closer inspection.

Yep, as suspected it was a baby snapping turtle in distress. It appears this little one went over the falls and would have no way of getting back into the lake with the waterfall in front and five foot cement walls on either side.

So we picked the turtle up, got out of the spillway and hiked back toward the middle of the lake away from the current.

At first the little one didn’t show much life but as we hiked a bit their instincts kicked in and they started wriggling and snapping like a feisty little fighter. Convinced they were strong enough to make in on their own, back into the lake they went, swimming away with purpose.

Sadly, the joy of the mini rescue was short lived as we soon came across a mole who had apparently passed away recently. An impromptu lakeside funeral in view of a swooping hawk who may have helped this little soul return to the circle of life. 🐀

The lake trail was relatively free of debris so fortunately it was a sparse haul from the Litter Wizards perspective. 🚯

So much for a quick simple walk in the park. Must be that “Turtle Energy” we’ve acquired from our new

/|\ Baby Awen is here to give many thanks and love to everyone for the support and warm welcome to sanctuary life!

🙏🤍 Thank you to the super kind individual who donated money for Awen’s prickly pear cactus in memory of Christopher Shaffer 🌵🐢

And we offer immense gratitude to Teresa for sending vital calcium and vitamin supplements to Baby Awen to help support their development and growth 💪🐢

💜⚕️Terrific news — the f***l test results just came back negative ✨🐢💩 If anyone would like to donate to Awen’s veterinary bill, we would be so grateful 🥹

A very happy birthday to one of our biggest supporters and one of the animals’ favorite humans — mama Kesa 💕🐄🥂🧁🫶🐎✨💜🐾

My mum rescues so many animals, has supported our microsanctuary every step of the way, and always gives the residents true love and respect. We are grateful. We love you, Kesa!
