32 years ago, at 7:02 a.m. the pump of a KC-135 Stratotanker produced a spark that ignited fumes in a fuel cell, causing a devastating explosion here at the 128th Air Refueling Wing.

Today we remember and honor the six Air National Guard members who died while working on the plane that morning:

December 4, 2025 - Half-Staff Alert - Entire United States

As a mark of respect for the memory of Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, West Virginia Army National Guard, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, December 4, 2025. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of December, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.

***Exercise Announcement***

The 128th Air Refueling Wing will conduct an active shooter exercise on the evening of Wednesday, October 22 at General Mitchell Air National Guard Base.

This is only a training exercise. You may hear simulated gunfire or see increased emergency response activity in the area. Please do not be alarmed—local agencies have been notified.

These exercises help ensure our Airmen remain ready to respond to real-world emergencies.

September 10-14, 2025 - Half-Staff Alert - Entire United States

President Trump has ordered all American Flags throughout the U.S. to half-staff September 10-14, 2025 to honor Charlie Kirk.

God Blessed an American Patriot
by taking him home.
He will not only be grievously missed by
his wife, Erika, and two very young children,
but all Christian Conservative Americans. The positive impact he’s had on the college youth in our country will never be surpassed or forgotten !!!

As of Memorial Day 2025, there were seven 4 x 8 bricks and one 8 x 8 paver that needed to be installed at the GVM. Thanks to Veteran Bernie Schroedl for engraving them and having them installed. Another shoutout goes to our local business J&J Contractors / LLC. They organized the Ferris wheel for their Summer Bash and allowed the Greendale Veteran’s Memorial to collect proceeds from all riders. Needless to say, it was our best year ever !!! Hopefully, new improvements are coming this year and 2026. A great suggestion for giving to the GVM was why don’t we have a QR code? Again, hopefully we’ll have one soon !!!
