President Jake Bailey was reelected to the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO's executive board this week at the WI State AFL-CIO convention! He also had the opportunity to speak on resolutions that would call for fair immigration reform and electronic shelf labels and dynamic price gouging; both resolutions passed.

During the conference, our organizing director, Nick Carone, spoke on a panel about the amazing work our organizing department is doing. He talked about wins at Festival Foods, Jiffy L**e, and PSSI, and also spoke about the local’s other ongoing retail campaigns.

Scott Spearo received the Ralph A. Jirikowic Award for his exceptional commitment to volunteer community service activities through our members in the workplace, the local union, and the greater community. Scott has been a member for over 40 years and helps coordinate all of the local’s volunteer programs: March of Dimes, Saint Ben's, Laborfest, Stamp Out Hunger, United Way, and Health and Hygiene drives. During Christmas, he volunteers as Santa at the local labor council. He is always pushing our staff to do more volunteer work. Congratulations Scott!!

We appreciate the UFCW Local 1473 Delegation that attended, including our Sgt-At-Arms and Political Member Organizer Lead, Kyle Kummers, and want to congratulate President Bailey on being elected to the AFL-CIO Board again for another term!

Electronic Shelf Labels could mean more than just changing prices – they could mean fewer jobs and severe cuts to wages.
According to a new study from , as many as 191,000 grocery jobs could be eliminated and $6.9 BILLION dollars every year in lost wages.

Thank you to everyone who walked with Local 1473 yesterday on Labor Day at Laborfest Milwaukee! 💙💛
An even bigger THANK YOU goes to our Laborfest Coordinator, Joe, for yet another amazing year serving up breakfast to our Union siblings! Thanks to him, the streets of Milwaukee were flooded with a sea of gold!
We also enjoyed celebrating Labor Day in Green Bay, Kenosha, and Madison this year! 💪

Last week Tuesday, UFCW 1473 staff and members helped feed 160 people at St. Ben’s (St. Benedict the Moor Parish) in Milwaukee! 💪
Thank you for all the food donations that made for a great cookout complete with brats and hotdogs! 🌭
Thank you to everyone who came and helped cookout and serve, and to Community Services for their endless support to their community! 💛💙
