is a nonprofit grocery market, education and training center located in Greendale Indiana serving the Tri-State area. Our mission: Meet the basic need of healthy eating, reward participation in educational and nutritional counseling and provide job skills training for at-risk, underprivileged and disabled children, youth and their families. A Gift to the Community: Good Health, Jobs, and Making a

Difference in People’s Lives. Located in Greendale Indiana our 14,000 square foot facility provides classroom instruction and a grocery area for implementing their new job and healthy shopping skills. Anyone can shop but low income people will be offered a financial advantage through the RightChoiceUSA reward program acknowledging their participation in educational programming and resultant better health. Reward program materials, resources and classes will include everything from how to shop based on dietary requirements and restrictions, pricing, to healthy low cost menus based on family size. Because saving money is important to our clients, we will provide education on the use of coupons, ads, and incorporating sale foods into meal planning. Also addressed will be the connections between food, eating and emotions. Food can affect aspects of well-being and is truly the cornerstone of health. An imbalance in food and nutrition is associated with: upset stomach, heartburn, headaches, weight loss or gain, heart disease, cancer risk, blood pressure, allergies, body aches and pain, congestion, fatigue, immune function, GI distress, emotional state and stress. The following are just a few of the conditions that will benefit specifically from dietary interventions: heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, allergies, diabetes and pre-diabetic conditions, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, obesity and pregnancy. Community Partners are Excited to Participate: A training and work site for ARC (children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities); SIEOC, a community action agency, for quality referrals; healthcare providers for initial and periodic health screenings; Purdue Extension Office for nutrition counseling; the Clearinghouse Pantry for pickup of outdated food items; Nutrition Council for education and guidance; regional Community Supported Agriculture Organizations; and other government, agencies, churches, health care organizations and individual volunteers. Organization Structure: Board of Directors represent years of experience in food service, retail, nonprofit, healthcare, legal, accounting, and volunteer recruitment. Sustainability: After startup, market proceeds will provide continued funding for overhead and operations. Customer base includes over 100 disabled children and their family members, 5,734 people in financial hardship in Dearborn County, and supported by the daily traffic count of 40,000 for shoppers. Funding Goal: $2,300,000
