Great presentation this Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the Allison Antrim Museum Barn beginning at 7 pm. James Fouchard, an authority on the architecture of the Cumberland Valley Railroad stations, will explore the various types of structures built to serve the operation of the CVRR and the architectural styles of their construction during CVRR’s lifespan. The Cumberland Valley Railroad Company was one of the oldest in America, having been incorporated on April 2, 1831 – 194 years ago! In 1865, the Franklin Railroad merged with the Cumberland Valley Railroad. There’s no fee to attend but donations are greatly appreciated which go toward Allison-Antrim Museum’s Speaker Series.

Its always nice to see one of the former Scouts from Troop 99 return to the Station and this past week we had a special guest. Rick McClain, an Eagle Scout from Troop 99 who installed the driveway lights at he Station as his Eagle Scout project, returned to the Station Friday evening for his Naval "pinning ceremony" to mark his promotion to Lt. Cdr. Rick has served two deployments on Naval Destroyers, including a tour of the Persian Gulf, and has now returned to the area as an Engineering Officer at the Washington Naval Yard. Congratulations to Rick, his wife and parents and thank you for making the Station a part of your special day!

It’s full steam ahead for Heritage Christmas at the High Line Train Station this year with the grounds lit up and construction underway for the model railroad display. On December 2nd and December 9th the Station will be open from 5:30 – 8:30 pm as part of Greencastle’s Heritage Christmas festivities. An O scale model railroad train will be running in the front room and volunteers from the Lilian Besore Memorial Library will be on hand to help hand out treat bags and books to children participating in the book readings. This year’s guest readers will be presenting Good Night Little Engine (ages 2- 5 yrs) and The Little Engine That Could: Delivery Day.
To reserve a seat for the book readings contact the Lilian Besore Memorial Library at 717-597-7920.
In addition, the High Line Train Station’s annual handmade, limited edition Christmas ornament will be available for $15 only at the Station during Heritage Christmas. The sixth in the series features the whimsical locomotive logo of the High Line Train Station, which has been an historic icon of Greencastle for well over a century. The stoneware ornaments are hand thrown and kiln fired by a local Greencastle artist who donates all proceeds to the High Line Train Station for repairs and restoration efforts.
This year’s activities will also include a silent auction for a beautiful 16” x 20” framed acrylic painting titled “Sunrise in Greencastle” by local artist Debbie Young. It will be on display at the Station during the Heritage Christmas activities and all proceeds from the winning bid will be donated to the High Line Train Station. Bids may also be submitted up to Friday, December 16th by emailing [email protected]
