The Greencastle Exchange Club celebrated its May Citizen of the Month, Noah Winebrenner, at their morning meeting held at Bean & Biscuit. This eighth-grade student from Greencastle-Antrim Middle School is the son of Jaime and Mary Winebrenner and was selected by his team of teachers to receive the award. They selected Noah because he embodies the following characteristics: a student who demonstrates good judgement and a sense of fairness, is unselfish, has a positive attitude, is dependable, shows good citizenship, and strives to reach his academic goals.
Noah’s science teacher, Mr. Anthony, describes him as a very conscious student who strives to do his best. He is willing to ask questions in class and has been developing the valuable skill of being able to communicate and share his ideas within the classroom setting. Since he participates in a number of sports, teachers admire his ability to manage both his educational and athletic commitments, making him a role model to others.
Mr. Layton, Noah’s teacher and football coach, explained how one of the most notable things about this young man is the kindness he expresses toward his classmates and others within the school environment on a daily basis. He is very personable, able to make friends easily, and treats everyone with respect. His willingness to help staff is seen daily when he stays after lunch to help put away the cafeteria tables. He shows empathy for his peers and is a member of the middle school Unified Bocce team, supporting inclusion and teamwork.
In addition to being on the middle school football, wrestling, and track and field teams, Noah loves to spend time with his friends. He enjoys most outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, kayaking and camping with his family.
