Reel & Meal at the New Deal Cafe

Reel & Meal at the New Deal Cafe A free monthly film series at the New Deal Café exploring vital environmental, social justice and animal rights issues.

We’re a staple of the Greenbelt community. Every third Monday, every month, for 14 years our audience has looked forward to high quality films on hot button issues, and above all our vigorous post-film discussions,

We’ve had environmental films about the nearby Chesapeake Bay, the Patuxent River and Tangier Island. We’ve shown films on politics in far away Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, the Democratic

Republic of the Congo, Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq, Iran and even Albania. Racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, domestic abuse, immigration, income inequality, health care and gun safety, anything that’s important and inspiring to our audience. You can find our past films on our page. We’d run out of characters before we’ve listed every topic we’ve covered. Now, we need our audiences help to keep it going. We’re looking for community organizations willing and able to sponsor a film for one of our monthly Reel & Meals.
