If you are in the DMV area, please join Rapid Response and Washington County Indivisible on Tuesday, June 9 for an important rally opposing the proposed ICE detention warehouse in Williamsport, Maryland.

The rally also marks one full year without public comment being allowed at Washington County Commissioners meetings while local officials continue supporting plans tied to this massive ICE detention facility.

This proposed facility would impact communities far beyond Washington County. Organizers, immigrant rights advocates, faith leaders, healthcare workers, environmental groups, and residents across Maryland and the broader DMV region have been raising concerns for months about detention expansion, transparency, environmental impacts, and the human cost of this project.

More than 200 people have reportedly been killed in US strikes on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.

At the same time, the US is weakening oversight of arms exports and has even pardoned a former president convicted of trafficking hundreds of tons of co***ne into the United States.

These actions may seem unrelated. They're not.

Our latest blog examines the contradictions at the heart of the newest "war on drugs" and asks whether current policies are reducing violence or fueling it.

The latest version of the US “war on drugs,” launched in February 2025, has worsened violence and undermined human rights. It now risks arming the very cartels it claims to defeat.

Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." -- Fred Rogers

Nory is the founder of the Paso Canoas Meal Program on the Panama/Costa Rica border. Her story is one we have heard again and again across migration routes throughout the Americas: ordinary people seeing great need around them and choosing to act.

What began eight years ago continues today, serving hundreds of migrants living Between Borders every month.
