The 2026 LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program's “Putting Party" will be held on Sunday, May 31st at Rouge Park Golf Course in Detroit. No cost!

Michigan Women's Golf Association's 9-week program for girls ages 7–17 will take place on Thursdays from June 18 through August 13. Thanks to The Snowbirds' donation, program fees have been reduced to $25 — giving participants the chance to build confidence, learn new skills, and have fun on the course.

We celebrate Dr. Catana Starks, who made history as the first Black woman to coach a men’s NCAA Division I golf team at Tennessee State University.

Her leadership, dedication and impact on student-athletes proved that excellence in coaching knows no boundaries. Dr. Starks’ legacy continues to inspire the next generation of sports leaders.

In 1937, Helen Webb Harris and 13 women founded the Wake-Robin Golf Club — the first registered Black women's golf club in the United States.

They didn't stop there. Harris and her club petitioned the federal government to desegregate public courses in Washington, D.C., leading to the 1939 opening of Langston Golf Course — a space where Black golfers could finally play.

That legacy of access, ownership, and leadership lives on.

Sheila Johnson, owner of the Salamander Collection — including PGA National Resort & Innisbrook Golf Resort — is proof of how far we've come.

So is our own Snowbirds member Michele Samuels, who made history in 2025 as the first Black female president of the Detroit Golf Club.

From fighting for the right to play on the grass… to leading and owning the grass — this is the power of legacy. ⛳✨

We're proud to expand opportunity and representation in golf and open doors for the next generation of leaders.

This , it’s not about the luck of the Irish — it’s about creating opportunity. 🍀

We’re proud to support the NAACP , helping open doors for underprivileged youth to access the game of golf and create new pathways for their future.

As NAACP President Derrick Johnson said: “We must never waver in our fight to ensure diverse opportunities — whether in the boardroom or on the golf course — are available to those who have been traditionally left out.”

Because opportunity shouldn’t be left to chance.
