Washington Crossing National Cemetery 2026 Unaccompanied Veterans Services Community Invitation. This service ensures veterans without family or friends are given the respect, dignity, and honor they deserve in their final moments. It may seem like a small gesture, but simply being present is anything but. Your presence demonstrates the community’s gratitude and provides veterans with the farewell they have earned!
Services are held on the last Thursday of each month from January through October, immediately following the 1:30 pm internment.
They ask participants to line up behind the Admin building around 1:35 pm, and we will process as a group to the committal shelter.
Contact the cemetery with questions at (215) 504-5610

Valley Forge National Park: Volunteers work alongside park staff to actively preserve and promote the park's resources. There are opportunities for individuals or groups to volunteer in recurring or one-time positions, for public service days, stewardship events, special events, and corporate service days. On a limited basis, the park may collaborate with your group to design a unique service opportunity for a specific date. Check their volunteer page or contact Khiet Luong (610-783-1061) for more information.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is looking for Scout-age boys AND girls The next parade is on July 4 in Chalfont. They will meet in the Giant parking lot at County Line and Route 202, practice basic drills for an hour, and march to North Branch Park. Scouts wear a provided T-shirt (as a Marine uniform would be too hot for younger participants) and march, carrying the United States flag and the flags of the branches of the military, in place of veterans who can no longer march. Scouts have participated over the past several years, but now this opportunity is a little more desperate. After the November parades, Sergeant Warner informed me that unless I could guarantee him scouts, they would no longer be able to march in them. It is a shame that this decades-long tradition of both the parades and scouts’ association with them might be coming to an end. The service includes traveling to Colmar to be fitted for a marine uniform the week prior to the parade. Once you have completed the parade, you will receive a certificate for 10 hours of service from the VFW and the flag of a branch of the military of your choice. For further details, please contact Sergeant Warner at 267 718-7437. If you have any difficulty reaching Sergeant Warner, please contact Ed Albrecht at 610-216-9684.
