operates as a non profit organization under the general direction of an all volunteer National Board of Directors. has four supporting all volunteer chapters operating in: Minnesota, Georgia, Colorado, and Wisconsin. The national board members oversee policy and practice, finances, as well as strategic planning and support to the various chapters. We are all about supporting our American Heroes anyway we can. Our primary focus is on Special Operations Troops. We are sending care packages over seas to them; in 2 years we have sent well over 1000 packages! We plan to do even more for our troops by recognizing opportunities to help in the reintegration of troops when they come home from deployment, help navigating the V.A. system, special circumstance cash assistance, and youth sports and academic scholarships. can state with confidence and pride that 100% of outside donations go directly to supporting our mission. No one in our organization gets paid, and never will, and we don’t reimburse ourselves for a lot of our expenses. We do send care packages to ALL branches of the military. There are events planned throughout the year to help fund our mission and we would be grateful if you would attend one or all of them!

Big thank you to Howard Motors for getting the HOOAH van tuned up and road ready. They took good care of us.

This van hauls gear to veteran events all over the state, and it's got a busy few weeks ahead with the march on November 7, so the timing was perfect.

If you’ve been meaning to sign up for the march, this is the week to do it. Prices go up after Wednesday the 14th for the long route and the virtual option, and after Friday the 16th for the short route.

Everything is $35 right now, and kids 14 and under are always free.

If you’re doing both, Green Bay on the 7th and La Crosse on the 14th, the bundle knocks $5 off each.

We’re still taking sponsors for the November 7 march, and instead of talking in generalities, here’s exactly what your name buys.

A thousand dollars sends one veteran skydiving and gets another one SCUBA qualified. Twenty-five hundred covers a full weekend wellness retreat for up to ten people. Five thousand puts a veteran and someone they love through all three seasons of our fishing program. Seventy-five hundred funds an entire year of peer support events, and ten thousand covers a thousand hours of mental health counseling or a service dog.

Every one of those programs is free to the veteran who walks through the door, and sponsors are the only reason that’s possible.

Depending on the level, your logo goes on roughly a thousand event shirts, into our newsletter, and in front of a crowd of more than a thousand people at the opening ceremony. We take in-kind donations too, whether that’s something for the registration bags or supplies for the water points.

It's Board Election time!

Five seats are up on the HOOAH WI board this round, and we'd rather be upfront about what the job actually is.

We're looking for a President, a Secretary, and three general board members. This is a working board, so it means showing up to meetings, showing up to events, and carrying real weight in between. If what you're after is a line on a resume, this isn't the seat for you. If you want to help build something for Wisconsin's veterans and you've got the time to put behind it, we'd like to hear from you!

Applying takes two things. First is the application form, second is a video of two to four minutes covering your background, why you want the seat, what you'd bring, and where you think this organization ought to be focused over the next year. The form spells out exactly what to hit. Filmed on your phone is fine, we care about what you say and not how it looks, but your application won't be considered complete without it, so don't skip that part.

We walked out of Tic's Harbor Lights on Sunday with $4,880 for Veteran Fishing University, which is a whole lot of meat moved for a good cause!

Tic and his crew hosted us, got behind it all afternoon, and handed over that check like it was nothing. Thank you doesn't really cover it, but it's what we've got.

Everybody who donated a basket, everybody who bought tickets, everybody who gave up a Sunday to stand around a bar in Suamico for this, thank you too!

Here's where it goes: VFU teaches veterans to fish open water, ice, and fly, and every one of them brings a friend or a family member along. It isn't free because it's cheap to run, it's free because of days like Sunday.

We had a bourbon made, and we are pretty fired up about it!

Driftless Glen Distillery in Baraboo is putting together a straight bourbon wh***ey carrying the HOOAH WI label. 90 proof, 750ml.

Pre-orders are $50 a bottle, and what we raise goes right back into HOOAH WI programs for veterans, service members, and their families. We'll share pickup details once they're bottled.

First chance to reserve one is tomorrow at Craftoberfest. Come find our booth, take a look at what's coming, and we'll get you squared away. We'll have a raffle basket and merch there too.

Craftoberfest runs 3:00 to 6:00 tomorrow at the Resch Expo, and it's 21 and up.

If you've been thinking about the Veteran Su***de Awareness March but haven't signed up yet, come find us at Craftoberfest this Saturday and ask us about it in person.

The march is Saturday, November 7 at the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay. The long route is 17.6 miles, and if that's more than you want to take on there's a 2.2 mile short route, a virtual option you can do from anywhere, and free registration for kids 14 and under. We'll have information at the booth and people there all afternoon who can tell you what the day actually looks like, which is usually more useful than anything we could put in a post.

We'll also have a raffle basket worth stopping for and HOOAH merch if you've been wanting to grab a shirt.

Craftoberfest runs from 3:00 to 6:00 on Saturday, October 3 at the Resch Expo, and it's 21 and up.

We walk again on Saturday, November 7.

The 14th Annual Veteran Su***de Awareness March starts and finishes at the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay, and this year there's a second one in La Crosse on November 14, which is the first time in fourteen years we've held this anywhere but here.

The long route is 17.6 miles, and that number isn't decorative. It's how many veterans this country loses to su***de every day, and we walk it every year. If that's more than you want to take on, there's a 2.2 mile short route, a virtual option you can do from anywhere, and free registration for anybody 14 and under.

Funds raised at this event go directly back into our programs for veterans, active duty service members, and their families, and every one of those programs is free of charge.
