Fear doesn't get the final word. Love does. 1 John 4:18 says: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.”

John isn't saying you'll never feel afraid. He's pointing us to something deeper: When we truly understand God's love for us, we don't have to live terrified of rejection, punishment, or being abandoned by Him.

We are loved. Not because we've earned it. Not because we've performed perfectly. Not because we never fail.

Because God is love. His perfect love reminds us that we don't have to run from Him when we're afraid. We can run to Him.

So when fear starts telling you:
"You're alone."
"You're not enough."
"God is done with you."

Answer it with truth: “I am loved by God.”

Fear may knock. But it doesn't have to take the seat. Let God's love speak louder.

We couldn’t fix our sin. We couldn’t make ourselves right with God. But God made a way through Jesus.

Moses had excuses.
Gideon felt inadequate.
Jeremiah thought he was too young.
Peter failed publicly.
Paul had a past he couldn't erase.

Yet God still called them. Why?

Because God's work has never depended on people having a perfect past, perfect confidence, or perfect ability. It depends on surrender.

You may be thinking:
"I'm not ready."
"I'm not qualified."
"I don't know enough."
"Someone else could do this better."

Maybe. But God isn't asking you to be someone else. He's asking if you'll say yes. He can develop your gifts. Strengthen your weaknesses. Teach you along the way. But you have to be willing to take the step.

Stop waiting until you feel qualified. Say yes to God. Let Him use what you've already placed in His hands.

Jesus is knocking. We often hear this verse as an invitation for someone who doesn't know Jesus to let Him in. But look at the context.

Jesus was speaking to a church. People who already knew His name. And yet, somehow, they had become so comfortable, so self-sufficient, so distracted that Jesus was standing outside, knocking.

That's a sobering thought. You can go to church and still become spiritually comfortable. You can know about Jesus and still leave Him standing outside parts of your life.

So maybe the question isn't: “Have I invited Jesus into my life?”

Maybe it's: “Have I let Jesus have all of me?”

Open the door.
Let Him into your plans.
Your priorities.
Your habits.
Your relationships.
Your comfort zone.
Your whole heart.

He's not asking for a Sunday visit. He's asking for fellowship. And the King of the universe is still knocking.

🎉 AUGUST VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: JAMES “MOOSE” SMITH! 🎉

If you’ve been around Green Bay First for any amount of time, chances are you’ve seen James Smith… although you probably know him better as Moose! 🫎

Moose is usually one of the first people in the building, often making the very first pot of coffee ☕️ for the day. And if you’re here early enough (and you’re very quiet 🤫), you might even catch him sitting in the café in the wee morning hours, lights low, spending time in Bible study.

But Moose doesn’t stop there! He serves as a greeter, usher, and on our security team, and throughout the week, he also helps with the pickup and sorting of pantry deliveries. Simply put… he does a little bit of everything!

One person who nominated him said, “He does a lot all over!” Another said, “He is always here to help and has a consistent heart.”

And honestly, we couldn’t agree more. ❤️

His laugh can probably be heard from just about anywhere in the building, and his faithful presence, willingness to serve, and consistent heart make such a difference at Green Bay First.

Thank you, Moose, for always showing up, jumping in, making the coffee, helping wherever needed, and serving with such a great heart. We appreciate you! 👏❤️

Not every disagreement needs to become a division. Not every difference needs to become a battle. And not every offense needs to become a reason to walk away.

Jesus prayed that His followers would be one. In Ephesians 4, Paul told the church to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

That takes effort.
It means choosing humility over pride.
Conversation over assumptions.
Forgiveness over resentment.
Grace over gossip.

And sometimes, laying down our need to be right for the sake of being together. Unity doesn't mean we agree on everything. It means we agree that Jesus is bigger than our differences.

So, before you add to the division, ask: “Am I helping build the body of Christ—or tear it apart?”

Fight for unity.
Protect the relationship.
Speak life.
Choose peace.

The enemy doesn't need to destroy the Church if he can simply divide it. Let's not help him.

Joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5 doesn't say the night won't come. It doesn't say you won't cry. It doesn't say the hard season will always end on your timeline. It says: “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

There may be seasons when all you can see is the night. But night isn't forever. God is still working when you can't see it. He is still faithful when you don't understand. And He is still God when the answer hasn't come yet.

So, if you're in a night season right now, hold on. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. This isn't the end of your story. The night may be long. But morning is coming. And when it does, you'll know the God who carried you through the night was faithful all along.

Right now, it might just feel like waiting.

A closed door.
A frustrating season.
A prayer that hasn't been answered.
A lesson you didn't ask to learn.
A season you wish would hurry up and end.

But sometimes God is doing His deepest work where we can see the least. He's building patience. Strengthening faith. Changing our perspective. Teaching us to trust Him instead of our timeline.

We may not understand the purpose while we're living through it. But one day, we may look back and realize: “God was working—even then.”

So don't despise the season you're in simply because you can't see what it's producing.
Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep following.

You don't have to understand everything God is doing to trust the God who is doing it.
