originated from The Forget Me Not Fall Fashion Show, which was started by the Wolf River Dementia Network in 2007 as a fundraising effort to support the Greater Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association educational conferences. With continued hard work and support from volunteers and local businesses, the event has continued to grow, giving even greater opportunity for donation and support. In September 2016 it became the Forget Me Not Fund, Inc. and was approved as a charitable section 501 (c)(3). currently supports Northeastern Wisconsin and supports causes that are dedicated to educating caregivers, along with sponsoring professional trainings, Memory Cafes and Silver Society Clubs. Caregiving can be incredibly meaningful, but it can also feel overwhelming. That's why having a community to turn to matters.

The Forget Me Not Fund helps support local education, programs, and resources that provide caregivers with knowledge, connection, and encouragement throughout the caregiving journey. 💜

No caregiver should feel like they have to navigate it alone.

Today is World Alzheimer’s Day, observed each year on September 21 as part of the global effort to raise awareness and challenge stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

For the Forget Me Not Fund, awareness leads to action in our own communities.

We support caregivers, educational opportunities, dementia-friendly initiatives, Memory Cafés, and local organizations working to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

Today, take a moment to learn, share, reach out to a caregiver, or support the work happening close to home.

A dementia diagnosis may change many things, but it never changes a person’s need for dignity, patience, connection, and belonging.

Creating a dementia-friendly community means learning how to communicate with greater understanding and making sure individuals living with dementia continue to feel valued and included. That goal is at the heart of the local education and community initiatives supported by the Forget Me Not Fund.

During World Alzheimer’s Month, we encourage everyone to learn a little more and help make our community a little kinder.

Memory Cafés offer a comfortable, welcoming environment where people living with early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia can spend time with others who understand the journey. The Forget Me Not Fund helps provide financial support to local Memory Cafés and similar programs.

These spaces create opportunities to relax, enjoy time together, and feel part of a community.

September is World Alzheimer's Month, a global opportunity to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia while challenging the stigma that can surround them.

While World Alzheimer's Month shines a spotlight on this important cause each September, our work continues year-round. Through education, caregiver support, local partnerships, and dementia-friendly initiatives, the Forget Me Not Fund is working to make our communities more understanding and supportive for individuals and families affected by dementia.

This month, help us keep the conversation going.
