On Saturday, December 6, 2025, 27 men of the community gathered at the Oneida Longhouse on Reformatory Rd. in Oneida to have man discussions and continue their work of being the best version of themselves as they could be.
The day started with and opening by Oneida Man Clan Planning Team (MCPT) Member Jameson Wilson and a check-in, led by (MCPT) Member Jeff Young, which would set the stage for the Talking Circle held later during day. After the check-in, Richard Cornelius was introduced to provide his insightful knowledge on how intergenerational trauma effects our daily lives and decisions. He went on to describe that since settler contact, numerous facets of original emotional, spiritual, physical and even dietary mindsets have been led astray. All of the decisions impacted by these circumstances, whether good or bad, send vibrations into our physical world that influence how men strengthen their internal fire. Richard engaged the Gathering VIII attendees with exercises that can help us continue in a good way. At this time, a break was needed and so, lunch was served.
After lunch, MCPT Paul Ninham coordinated an Indigenous game of strength called Inuit Stick Pull (ISP). After the tournament and a heightened sense of friendly competition and adrenaline, MCPT Jameson Wilson successfully defended his ISP title belt. Then, it was time for the Talking Circle.
During the Talking Circe, each man came away with a little more knowledge to be better men. One of the highlights of the Talking Circle was the attendance of future leader, twelve-year old Aspen Kindness, who will soon be thirteen in January. Aspen graced us with his presence, showing wisdom beyond his years. For this reason, Jeff Young bestowed upon Aspen the Man Clan Gathering tradition of tying on another feather onto the Oneida Man Clan staff. Aspen did so graciously.
After the closing by MCPT Jameson Wilson, Gathering VIII of the Oneida Man Clan was in the books. Thank you for all the that attended.
A special thank you to founding MCPT member Paul Ninham, Jeff Young, Daniel Guzman (who is currently deployed overseas in the Navy), Dan Doyen, John Powless, Nic Reynolds, and Jameson Wilson.
