Unfortunately, due to the afternoon forecast, we have made the decision to CANCEL Open Studio- Green Bay for this evening. Stay home and make some art, then visit our Social Prescription Calendar to find additional opportunities for social connection later in the week.

We'll see you in June for Open Studios in Pulaski and Green Bay!

{May 12, 2026 2:25 AM} Scattered showers and isolated storms will move across the area this morning, although severe weather is not expected. Later this afternoon, additional showers and storms will redevelop with a few strong or severe storms possible, especially between 3 pm and 7 pm. Damaging winds and large hail are the main risks.

Open Studio in Pulaski is TONIGHT! May is also Mental Health Awareness Month, which should give you even more reason to stop in and create with us.

Speaking of mental health, a recent study showed that with the increasing evidence around the positive impacts engaging in the arts does for our well-being, artists are being asked to facilitate courses but aren't always equipped with the knowledge to navigate situations that may arise when addressing mental health. At SAGE, we're currently strengthening a model of training BEFORE our artists take to hosting arts in health courses. This involves training in trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, and training for specific demographics such as individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia. Our focus within this training module centers around both the participant and the artist feeling safe and comfortable to properly engage in the goodness that art brings us.

Our Open Studio events are facilitated by an artist trained in trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, certified in Purple Angel Training, certified as a "Community Engaged Artist", and certified in HIPAA privacy regulations. Read the article linked in the comments and learn a bit more why that's so important to us, and we'll see you this evening in Pulaski. 💙

Thank you to the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Brown County WI for highlighting the data-driven impacts the arts have on aging in their May magazine! We're grateful to see this sort of recognition that the arts have on the demographic of older adults.

Did you know that the ADRC of Brown County is one of our partners on the Social Prescription Calendar?! While registration is required because their activities are so popular, we love to see the variety this organization puts on for the well-being of our community. The Ukelele Jam, for example, currently has a waitlist...how cool is that?!

As our founder currently takes on a needs assessment for the older adult population in Pulaski, we're so pleased to see articles like this in hyperlocal press and print. In only validates our organization's efforts and advocacy that much more.

Welcome to utilizing the Social Prescription Calendar to address social connection, belonging, and overall quality of life for your client base, Sagent Behavioral Health!

A couple months ago, we received an email asking to share the Social Prescription Calendar with the Sagent Behavioral Health team. After a delay due to that little snowstorm we had a month ago, we made our way to their offices this afternoon, presented what social prescribing is, and shared how SAGE is utilizing our existing arts and culture orgs and programming to directly address mental health and well-being. After presenting, feedback centered around "I could already picture a client who would benefit from this initiative."

As we continue to educate the community around the impacts of social prescribing and how the arts and our local artists can fill a current community gap, we're grateful for days of progress like this. The movement is growing and we're incredibly excited. If you're interested in learning more about SAGE and the Social Prescription Calendar, don't forget, you can visit Xavier tonight as he hosts Open Studio at the Neville. Or send us a message; we'd LOVE to chat.

Did you know it's National Volunteer Week?! For seven years (WHOA), Open Studio has been run by artist volunteers. And tomorrow is no different, as you can join SAGE "Super Volunteer" Xavier at the Neville Public Museum for Open Studio in Green Bay from 530-730p.

It's also Earth Day, and SAGE is all about the reuse and repurposing of supplies. If you have anything extra just laying around that you'd like to contribute towards our efforts, feel free to drop those supplies off during Open Studio. And we'll bring some specific supplies tomorrow night meant to highlight our advocacy towards sharing resources and reducing waste. (Xavier may also have a few fun copies of "June's Enviro-Mend-All Awareness"...a zine written to accompany a Science Fair Project presented by a pretty cool 11-year-old...just ask for one!)

We'll see you TOMORROW at Open Studio!

Ever wonder when an organization says they've received a grant, what that process looks like?

Well, we're here to talk about it from SAGE's point-of-view! We're big on sharing what we're up to and where dollars that make their way to us end up. SAGE has operated as a registered 501(c)3 since 2019, with an annual operating budget well under $50,000 that technically makes our fiscal reporting to the IRS as simple as a postcard acknowledging we're still at it. SAGE applies for grants to cover the costs of programming, which is predominantly what grants fund to begin with.

We have two open grants right now- one with the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and one with Basic Needs Giving Partnership. These dollars funded Creatively Engaged Community and the technical side of the Social Prescription Calendar. At the end of the grant cycle, we're required to report how we spent those dollars and if our spending reflects what we said we were going to do in the application.

Because of our capacity as a volunteer-led organization, grants tend to put us on a schedule where we cycle back and forth between outreach work that looks like we're doing a lot directly with the community and internal work where we undertake the nitty gritty of planning, budget, strategy, and long-term sustainability. This is diligent, intentional work, and we're here for it to build this community.

Want to get more in-depth with this conversation? Stop by the Neville Public Museum on Tuesday, April 21st from 530-730p for Open Studio! We'd be happy to chat with you!

This afternoon we had the absolute honor of sitting down with Connor and Joe of the Oneida Veterans to brainstorm our upcoming collaborative effort to showcase their organization through our program, "Creatively Engaged Community".

As part of a grant awarded to us from the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, the Oneida Veterans are one of four organizations we will work with through the spring and summer. Two Oneida artists will work with a group of more than 40 individuals (veterans and non-veterans) who attend a weekly free breakfast the Oneida Veterans provide to the community. For some, this weekly meal is their only social engagement, for others, the only truly from-scratch meal they eat.

We are honored to have been invited to take a seat at the breakfast table in the coming weeks, and we greatly look forward to sharing more about this project and the artists who will take it on. If today's meeting was any indication of what to anticipate, it's going to be an amazing experience.

Open Studio returns to Pulaski on Tuesday, April 7th from 530-730p!

Never been to an Open Studio before?
In Pulaski, we host this gathering in the seating area at Super Ron's Grocery Store. You'll walk in and continue right as though you're headed to the deli and produce section. The seating area is along the front wall of the right side of the building as you face it. Restrooms are conveniently located adjacent to the seating area and let me tell you...the snack options for purchase are pretty great. 😉

We bring two bins of various art supplies with us. Examples of modalities you can work with include drawing, collage, watercolor, zine-making/writing, hand-stitching, embroidery, air dry clay, and basic painting. We tend to bring a variety of drawing supplies like pastels, colored pencils, markers, pens, and drawing pencils. While you are more than welcome to bring a project you are currently working on, our supplies are at the ready for you to make use of at no cost during the two-hours we take over the seating area.

Open Studio is a lovely little space and time for us to gather, get to know each other better, talk about our current artistic endeavors, and reap the mental health benefits of connection. We foster a peer working space of mutual respect and appreciation for the arts. If this sounds like something you'd like to give a go, we encourage you to join us.

Green Bay, don't forget...we host Open Studio for you the THIRD Tuesday of every month. Can you believe it's been on the same day for YEARS now? Open Studio is a staple program for SAGE and we love it. We think you'll love it too.
